I always pictured deafskeptic being one of those ol' school geezer punks. You know the ones in their mid-40s that still have a leather jacket, big Dr. Martens-like boots, the mohawk, the piercings, the Sid Vicious torn t-shirt.

Jeans can be replaced with skirt or kilt, depending if she's going for the Celtic subgenre or be one of the girly girls.

Yea, I went dancing with deafskeptic last week and I wore my Madonna-type outfit with the big hair. It was bitching! :laugh2:

Never seen people go for the '80s style around my part. Thanks god. Probably because it wasn't an ideological thing going at the time-- unless you were dressing conservatively (*coughs*New Wave*coughs*)

But it's hilarious when people won't let go of fashion trends from the '60s or '70s.

Thank god 1980's was over! I couldnt believe that i had a huge hairdo! I loved 1970's though.

^^ Nine years older than me. How nice!!

Even when they deny they are a racist, you insist they are racist because you WANT them to be labeled as a racist irregardless whether they are a racist or not. It won't matter to you if they're truly not a racist, you just want them to be a racist out of political hate and spite.

Yiz

Well said.
I am all for racial diversity. What I'm not for is possitive discrimination. Normally you are permitted to critize polititions and governments unless it is a dictatorship you are in.

If people have to tiptoe round this president just because he's black, I don't think that's right.

Criticism of policies is one thing. Opposition based on race is quite another. How do you criticise a man for being black? He had no choice in the matter, he did not make a conscious decision to be black. He did not get up one morning and say, "Okay, today, I will enact policies that will make me black."

And what in the world is positive discrimination? Discrimination is never positive.

If people feel that they have to tiptoe around him because he is black, then they must be racist themselves. Otherwise, why the need to walk on eggshells?

Race 'not behind health protests'

President Barack Obama has said that some Americans may oppose him because of race, but that this has not been the main factor behind healthcare protests.

He suggests, in TV interviews to be broadcast on Sunday, anti-government sentiment was the key reason for angry protests against healthcare reform.

Former President Jimmy Carter said this week that much of the vitriol against reform plans was "based on racism".

Many felt "that an African-American should not be president", he said.

Mr Carter made the point after Republican lawmaker Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" while Mr Obama was delivering an address on healthcare to Congress last week.

'Volatile issue'

Recent protests against Mr Obama's healthcare reform plans have included angry town hall meetings and a taxpayers' demonstration in Washington last weekend.
“ Are there some people who don't like me because of my race? - I'm sure there are ”

Some have accused Mr Obama of tyranny and promised to "reclaim America".

In comments to ABC, Mr Obama said race was a "volatile issue" and "it becomes hard for people to separate out race being a sort of part of the backdrop of American society versus race being a predominant factor in any given debate".

"Are there some people who don't like me because of my race?" he said. "I'm sure there are.

"Are there some people who voted for me only because of my race? There are probably some of those too.
HEALTHCARE IN THE US
# 46 million uninsured, 25 million under-insured
# Healthcare costs represent 16% of GDP, almost twice OECD average
# Reform plans would require all Americans to get insurance
# Some propose public option to compete with private insurers

But he added that he thought some were "more passionate about the idea of whether government can do anything right.

"And I think that that's probably the biggest driver of some of the vitriol."

In a separate interview with CNN, Mr Obama said he did not think race was the "the overriding issue here".

He also said he was not the first president to come up against angry protests.

"The things that were said about FDR [Franklin Roosevelt] were pretty similar to the things that were said about me - that he was a communist, he was a socialist," Mr Obama said.

"Things that were said about Ronald Reagan when he was trying to reverse some of the New Deal programmes were pretty vicious as well."

If people feel that they have to tiptoe around him because he is black, then they must be racist themselves. Otherwise, why the need to walk on eggshells?
If anyone feels like they need to walk on eggshells, it's because every time someone criticizes the president, a bunch of morons yell "RAAAAAACIST!" Fortunately, nobody is walking on eggshells because none of his critics are buying it much to the chagrin of those know-nothing know-it-all mind-readers.

I'm glad the President spoke up against this, although I'm not surprised. Not only are the accusations intellectually vapid and morally bankrupt, they're bad politics. People don't like to be bullied by a bunch of bottom-feeders who are in desperation mode. To say it has backfired would be an understatement.

But as a guy who tries to look on the bright side, here's the silver lining. At least we know who has zero credibility. Jimmy Carter, Maurine Dowd, Joe Klein, Bob Herbert, etc. No surprise really.

Actually, he did not deny that it played a part:

Obama acknowledged that racism plays a role in some of the criticism against him, but added that race is "not the overriding issue."

Additionally, that was the sentiment presented by Carter in the most recent discussion. No one has stated that it was the only factor, but that it was a definate factor.
Jimmy Carter said an "overwhelming portion" of the animosity is based on racism. That's not exactly in agreement with President Obama's statements.

By the way, I agree with the president that there are some people out there who don't like having a black man in the White House. The white supremacist groups probably aren't too happy about it. Some of them may be responsible for a few of the uncouth signs at the protests. In any large gathering, it's inevitable to have at least a few people with racial animus, but at least they're so marginalized and insignificant that they have no sway over the movement as a whole. On the other hand, the people I listed have a national stage on which they make their unfounded exaggerations to exploit racial sensitivities in an attempt to punish opponents of their agenda. Thankfully, their attempts are failing miserably because, well, most people just aren't as dumb as they are.

Well, that's because SOME people don't believe that Obama was born in Hawaii. Some people think that his birth certificate could be a fake. It's possible that Obama paid the hospital to use a fake birth certificate to protect his identity/birthplace.

Is it true that he is an actually American ? If, yes then why did he screw our country ? He screwed economy, health care, GMC, banks, mortages (houses), and everything. People complaint about him. More and more protesters are against him, because they don't believe him that he will make our country improve and better. More people die due to no health insurance, because of him changin' health care. People can't afford. Obama should leave people's health care alone as it was before he became President... why screw now ??
