Ex-Penn coach charges in sex cases

Having seen on AD the kind of person that gives this so-called therapy, no thanks.

Then live your life in hatred and misery. Your choice. Just stop trying to get rid of it by spreading it all over other people.

Lets face it for what it is and NOT DEFEND any organization for it's existence.

Some see parallels between Penn State troubles, Boston clergy sex abuse scandal - The Washington Post

No one here is defending. But this thread has nothing to do with what another poster is attempting to bring in for his own selfish motive. You are relatively new around here. There are times when you would do well to take your fingers off the keyboard.

Now, back to the situation in Pennsylvania and Joe Pa.

I can see a bit of a connection, but the problem lies in the rules against religious discussion. Bringing the Pope into this means lockdown. If that is their intention, I hope they are sent to...Nebraska! Lots of corn there.

I can see a lot of connections in many things, but they are not appropriate to this thread.:giggle:

I should have remembered that in my post about starting a new thread.

I disagree. If you notice my post includes a link, which has been plastered over CNN, Boston, Washington Post and just about every other news outlet comparing what is happening at Penn State with the church. It is, in fact, part of the story and the parallels are being debated not only on this forum, but all over the world. It's not off topic, the other poster was correct.

Just this morning CNN posted another comparison.

AD has not changed their rules, so it is moot. We cannot discuss religions. If we do, thread is locked. I would prefer to keep this one going.

I have to look into the rules, but I've never been on a forum where you couldn't talk about an on topic question. There is a difference between discussing a specific event and having an open thread about something.

How this specific event relates to that specific event is not about religion.

EDIT: I would like to get the mods view on this.

As soon as you bring religion into this, I can guarantee that there will be people defending the church. Do you have any idea why religious discussion is banned? Because it becomes too heated to moderate. When it was allowed, there were Muslims, Buddhists, and Christians posting. I have no problem with it personally, but I agreed to follow the rules here.

I know there are many people that were abused in the Catholic church, but the same could be said of health clubs, schools, Boy Scouts, etc. And it isn't like nobody knows...

Exactly.

The last thing I want is a flame war on religion and it will be appreciated if all posters follow the rules.

I was raised catholic and I understand exactly what you are saying. However, I'd like clarification on a specific act vs a subject when being addressed in the forums. Is there a place I can ask this question?

I've asked a mod this: Specifically, if an event was perpetrated by a specific religion is it against the rules to post about that event on a forum if it relates to the thread itself?

If the mods feel it is incorrect, they will remove my posts.

I do not want to circumvent the rules. I just want clarification on them.

You could start a new thread relating to the Penn State / Boston clergy similarities. I would participate as best as I could, within the rules of AD. Most likely, there are thousands of other forums that allow that type of discussion. You could state your case on one of those.

Thank you.

It becomes very heated. If you were bombarded with Islamic rhetoric regarding the Bible, relentlessly bashing it, how would you react? That is what happened.
