HAPPY MOTHER' s DAY

Also, I like to remind you of this quote from Harlen Lane 's.

"Tell the mothers I said, "Don't try to change your child; you are the adult, you bear the burden of change" - Harlan Lane

Sweetmind

I see that you have an attitude plms, your message doesn't sound nice, If people don't agree with you, ( Leave It Be )...You cannot fix people's mind to agree with you, everyone has different feelings, different thoughts, different tastes, different consciences, they do not have to agree with everything you says here, they have right to agree or not to agree, everyone has different opinions and thinkings ability, it's their choice...You have no right to controls everyone here to agree to accept anythings you says here...For you as a Chief Monitor of the Deaf Chat and as a Grandmother, but your Attitude Stinks, I've seen the meanness in you from the Deaf Chat, which everyone is getting tired of your ways of not treating them nicely, If you wants everyone's respects then you needs to respects them also...Lately you haven't been treating me very nicely and I would like to know what is your plms and why are you so mean ? I was very nice to you, something inside of you has change from nice to spiteful and hateful ways, ask yourself what are you doing to yourself and to people ? Can't you be nice for once ? Nobody wants to be around someone who is mean, nasty etcs, none of us deserved to be mistreated in anys way, we're human and we want justice to be treated very kindly, remember you are a grandmother and grandmother should be tamed especially when you have grandbabies and grandchildren around, show that good example.

This would make a great sig, Sweetmind! ;)

You're a grandmother Sweetmind? For some reason I had a mental image of you being in your 20s or 30s.

I think I disagree. It's the children who bear a burden of change..

Fuzzy

Sweetmind wouldn't use CSN's signature I'm sure.

Tell the mothers I said,
"Help your child; you are the adult, you bear the burden of resposibility to give the child all the possibilities life can give."

- Definitely not Harlan Lane

You sound disappointed...

No I'm somewhat surprised. I guess I tend to associate the kind of anger that Sweetmind expresses with younger people who then mellow with age and move on. I don't really associate it with grandmothers. Shows what a lot of stereotypes I have eh?

Yeah. Sweetmind is, indeed, a grandma.

Speaking of defying stereotypes, my own grandmother is far from mellow too. She has a type-A personality, so she's really outspoken and is very stubborn.

Eh, we now know which side of the family you take after ;)
I actually agree with you more than you think I do. ;) For example, I do think that oral speech is a good tool to have, I think it is useful for deaf people to learn it, and I do think that loving parents will encourage socialization with both worlds.

And I do think that if someone has a cochlear implant and they like it, that's good. ;)

Well, I hope there are no more personal attacks.

I'm not closed-minded--I don't agree with everybody, and it doesn't make me closed-minded to disagree with others. I don't agree with your opinion on Bill Gates, for example--I hate him, Microsoft, and Steve Ballmer, but that's :topic: ;)

I see nothing wrong to have agreement to disagreement each other.

It doesn´t mean that I´m closed mind when I´m disagree to implant babies to toddler with CI and beleive to give my child´s choice when he/she is old enough. I respect eveyone when I´m disagree with their decision to implant babies to toddler with CI.

Deaf Education

http://www.asl.org/about.htm

Dedicated both to its American educational philosophy and to its diverse student body, which represents about 50 nationalities, ASL offers a rigorous curriculum with a sophisticated global perspective. The School seizes every possible advantage of its location in the heart of the world's most international city, whether through in-class visits by noted London residents or day and overnight trips in the city, Britain and continental Europe.

ASL is the oldest American school in London and remains the only non-profit American school in England. The School is organized into three school divisions, Lower, Middle and High School, ensuring developmental and age-appropriate settings for our students. Over the years, we have developed a strong school culture that emphasizes the intellectual and moral growth of our students. Very quickly our students absorb the values of the School — a commitment to excellence, intellectual self-reliance, eagerness to assume responsibility, an appreciation for diversity and a global perspective. Experiential learning opportunities — learning by doing — are integrated throughout the curriculum, creating an environment where students are encouraged to take educational risks.
The outstanding ASL faculty are closely involved with our students, not only in the classroom, but as coaches, advisors, mentors and friends. They foster an atmosphere of true learning that encourages our students to engage in rigorous intellectual activity and independent thinking.
With a student body representing many nationalities, the School is strongly committed to bringing an international and multi-cultural perspective into all aspects of School life. We also recognize that we are a cultural and community center for Americans in London and work to help families making the transition to life in London.

The School is committed to a partnership between school and family providing an environment of openness, responsiveness and communication – an environment that places the child’s well-being at the center.

Pirate becomes Eagle for the U19 Rugby World Cup
During the April vacation, an ASL senior - and ASL varsity rugby captain - was selected to play for the USA Eagles rugby team in the Under-19's World Cup in Dubai. He received a last minute call-up and featured for the Eagles in games against Fiji and Chinese Taipei.

Junior ISMTF Mathematics Competition
The Math team did wonderfully in the Junior ISMTF Mathematics Competition (under 16 year old) held at the British School of Paris. Two ASL students placed 2nd and 8th in the individual competition; ASL's two teams placed 6th and 12th out of 54 teams.

There are several ways one could look at the statistics and say ASL was the best!

We were the only school with 2 individual competitors in the top 10; we were the only school with both teams in the top 12 for the team competition.
