Europe Calls on World to Abolish Death Penalty

It is their home and why force them to leave? Maybae they were not able to leave country to go other country. Maybe they do not have money or had visa to leave country? We do not know whole story except I read they were arrested and will be executed soon. They do not even harm anyone or touch anyone. They were good people unlikely we have so many killers in our prisons and they continue kill people from inside prison to outside.

Yes I personally agree with you totally but they know better because they live and know their law... and know that the law consider it as crime/illegal if they violate their law. You know each country has different laws. All what we do is obey and stick with their law when we don't agree.

Illinois does have the death penalty law; that man was NOT sentenced to death. Not every guilty person gets a death sentence in a capital punishment state.

Okay, understood and acceptance....

But what if he was being accused as a serial killer which he did not commit?

I see. I have heard of other Christian faith groups going to other countries like Africa and Asia for humanitarian purpose. Some of them were arrested and sentenced to death for preaching and converting people. The converted people were beaten and probably killed too. For example - Tsunami Aid Workers Suspected of Trying to Convert Muslims. I'm just pissed at them for disrespecting Islamic Laws and endangering other people.

As for freedom of religions - well I don't really have any opinion about it. It sucks but what can you do about it? It's stupid to fight it in a secular country like Iran when it's punishable by death penalty.

:gpost: *nodding agreement*

I knew couple of missionaries go over there and try to convert them to christian. It is old news u know it happened in America (North and South) when they discovered America years ago, they tried to convert native people into Christianity. For this I disagree because they lost their hertiage and culture.

But this is what I am trying to say in Iran, they even put death penalty on anyone who smoke weeds. It is way too harsh than it was while Shah in power. It is so sick.

But he wasn't. What's the point in creating "what ifs"? Let's stick to the facts, ma'am.

never happened. that's why death penalty wasn't served swiftly. Thanks god for that in USA, huh?? At least they weren't beheaded immediately like in Iran. I believe our death penalty system is probably more humane and fair compared to most of the world.

Do you remember my post about Bobby McLaughlin at other thread?

I am sorry that you don't want to see the fact... The reality is is many innoncent do have feeling and would say the same thing as Bobby McLaughlin. It's natural thing to say and have feeling like this.

Death isn't much of a punishment. You die; it's over...

We were discussing Dean Cage of Illinois who was convicted of rape, and then later exonerated. You asked "what if" about him. He was never accused of being a serial killer. What does Bobby McLaughlin have to do with Cage? You asked me "what if" about Cage, not McLaughlin.

Exactly, that's what I often say before this is their choice. They choose what they take or agree is their decision.
So killing people for their religion is OK with you but executing people for their crimes is not?

We do is obey the law of different countries, we visit to. If anyone ignore their law is their own responsible because they know what they did is "violate" their law. Example of all, we visited Singapare at years ago. Should we ignore their law? No, we have to obey and respect their law because it's their own culture. I taught my boys to obey the law no matter either we agree or not.

I travelled half of the world and know their strange/odd law but we have to accept and follow it. It's my own responsible if I ignore their law when I know before what kind of law they have.

If death "isn't much of a punishment", then why are people against it?

Because death is not punishment but vengeance. If you die, then is over... which is not right punishment.

No matter, each innocent people like him do have feeling... I only show you the example of Bobby McLaughlin's word because he is not first person who says this... I do beleive that Dean Cage would say the same thing. You also would feel the same when you vowed that you are innocnent and didn't commit anything. ..

I'm not sure whether I'm for or against the death penalty. On one hand: who am I to decide if someone should die, I'm not God. But on the other hand death is what the average person is most afraid of. Without the death penalty the criminal has to be kept in prison...with our tax money. In most prisons the criminals just sit around, and 'though extreme boredom/loneliness is a punishment, their morals/ethics are not being improved. Most criminals who are released can't cope in the real world. Somethings gotta change, but I don't see a good solution.
