Europe Calls on World to Abolish Death Penalty

Guess this thread's gonna be thrown into hell, now.

Iran is a theocracy, that's a given. A theocratic nation not welcoming to other religions? Duh!

DNA clears man of rape after 12 years in prison
41-year-old 29th person in Illinois exonerated by post-conviction evidence

CHICAGO - DNA testing has exonerated a man of a rape conviction that had kept him in an Illinois prison for more than 12 years.

The New York-based Innocence Project says Dean Cage is the 29th person in Illinois exonerated by post-conviction DNA evidence.

The 41-year-old man was released from prison late Tuesday after Chief Criminal Court Judge Paul Biebel dismissed the conviction at the request of prosecutors.

Cage was convicted of assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 1994 and was sentenced to 40 years behind bars. He insisted he was home at the time of the attack.

It takes long 12 years to find out that he is an innocnent... :eek3: What if death penalty in that states... he would already dead.... :Ohno:
Abolishing the death penalty would NOT have effected this man's sentence because he was sentenced to 40 years, not death.

Personally, I think the Christian group is foolish to go to Islamic country to preach their teaching in the name of humanitarian mission. Do they not realize it's the most serious crime in Islamic religion to convert out of it? By doing that, they put people at harm. They deserve what they got and they have no respect for other religions. They should have left the bible and religious agenda back home and focus on humanitarian agenda. Fools.... I have no sympathy for them.

Not all christians are doing like that, it's depends on people.

Those 10 christians were Iranians who were born to muslim parents and converted to Christian. Death penalty is too harsh in Iran, IHMO.

that's why I said Christian group. Not the whole Christian people.

It's their country. They should be aware of punishment when entering Islamic country. Just as much as American - Michael Fay who spray-canned in Singapore and ended up with caning on his ass 4x. And remember Van Tuong Nguyen? It was very very sad and of course I think the punishment he received in Singapore (death penalty) is too harsh for his crime but law's law.

I'm sorry if my opinion is extreme but you deserve what you get with due process of law. If you don't respect or agree with their way of life and its law/punishment system.... DO NOT ENTER THEIR COUNTRY! I get pissed off when I read news like "USA government is pressuring ---- government to show some leniency!" Stop wasting our taxpayer money and our time to save your ass just cuz you thought you'd be a hero to change their way of life. Call us if you're a political prisoner in other country, not bail you out when you committed a crime like drug trafficking or spray-painting. If you're anybody like James Buck (Twitter guy in Egypt), then CALL US - OK?

Jazzy said that those 10 Christians were Iranians; they didn't "enter" Iran--they were born there. It is their country, just as much as it is any Iranian's country.

According to these national polls, most Americans still support the death penalty.

Crime

:ty: for link.

I never say high % oppose death penatly but I only said that more and more Americans oppose death penalty which mean is their support to death penalty goes decrease more and more for years.

Yes, but they know their country law. If they want to convert to Christian then leave their country for other countries who can convert their belief to...

He is very lucky..... He would of dead if death penalty law in his state.

Yes what Jazzy said is correct but some Christians from any countries choose to ignore Iran´s law.

Yes I know what you mean.

That´s correct. My family & I visited to Singapore for winter holiday. Before our visit to Singapore, Travel Agency gave us information about their law, etc. We were like :eek3: and said to ourselves how strict law they have but we obey and respect their law if we want to learn their culture. We taught our boys to respect their law which is different as our law. If anyone who choose to ignore their law then is their own responsiblity.

If you don't respect or agree with their way of life and its law/punishment system.... DO NOT ENTER THEIR COUNTRY!

Exactly, it´s our choice if we want to visit then respect and obey their law, if not then don´t go.

Reba is right, they are Iranians and born in their country. They had no freedom of choice in their believe. In my IHMO, Iran is worst country in this world in death penalty more than China and USA. Eurpoe should focus on that country not us here in USA.

It is their home and why force them to leave? Maybae they were not able to leave country to go other country. Maybe they do not have money or had visa to leave country? We do not know whole story except I read they were arrested and will be executed soon. They do not even harm anyone or touch anyone. They were good people unlikely we have so many killers in our prisons and they continue kill people from inside prison to outside.

Why should you worry about the death penalty, since you know that you are a good person?

What if they're not allowed to leave?

Illinois does have the death penalty law; that man was NOT sentenced to death. Not every guilty person gets a death sentence in a capital punishment state.

Yup, that right, not all murderers are sentence to death penalty, only some of them are so, especially on multi-homicide and serial killer.

I see. I have heard of other Christian faith groups going to other countries like Africa and Asia for humanitarian purpose. Some of them were arrested and sentenced to death for preaching and converting people. The converted people were beaten and probably killed too. For example - Tsunami Aid Workers Suspected of Trying to Convert Muslims. I'm just pissed at them for disrespecting Islamic Laws and endangering other people.

As for freedom of religions - well I don't really have any opinion about it. It sucks but what can you do about it? It's stupid to fight it in a secular country like Iran when it's punishable by death penalty.

No, it's not just USA, EU focus to but any countries in the world who are for death penalty.

Yes, I do agree that Islaim countries are the main worst but it's about death penalty in different countries, not their culture law. Everyone know that there're different laws around the world... We have to obey and respect their culture...
