doctors cannot ask about guns

You have proof that they've passed gun laws based on one complaint to the NRA?

I just gave my answer in the above post.

Protect our guns at all costs. Children are expendible.

So, a child shows no symptoms of diabetes. The doctor should not be allowed to inquire about family history and diet?

not interested in routine health check-up. Family history and diet are not Constitutional rights.

I'm specifically interested in "gun check-up" cases.

Don't have the exact figures, but I would venture to say it is much lower, as the vast majority of people are well educated regarding the risk. However, there are still those who consider a loaded gun in a closet to be sufficient storage to prevent a child getting ahold of it and accidentally shoothing themselves or another person.

Or even worse, out in the yard where children play. I remember reading about one case in Richmond where someone did just that a while back. Someone died. This was totally preventable.

And where do you think social services gets their information?

since we were being specific - it is reasonable for doctors to ask about gun possessions when they suspect patients of being a danger to himself/others.

now about child safety... I don't see it. You'll have to paint a picture for me to understand. I still can't see what reasonable probable cause is there for doctors to ask about gun possession in child abuse case.

Where do yo get "gun check up" cases? You are appearing to be paranoid. What? You think pediatricians are some undercover agents for the government?

How do I explain to a three-toed sloth who doesn't have friends fighting custody battles for their children?

Precisely what I'm asking you.

What makes doctor ask about gun possession in case of child abuse? It's illogical to me. and paranoid. Scenario please.

Who said anything about intimidation? The WCS (White Coat Syndrome) seems to be on the rise these days.
Doctors do have power. They can refuse treatment if you don't answer their gun questions. (Yes, it happened.) They can make negative reports to insurance companies, child services, and the police. They can lay the guilt on about your parenting.

You are getting completely and utterly off track, now. Your priority is guns. Mine is children.

Why are we talking about doctors as if they would read us our Miranda rights?
because it takes only 1 phone call to police/social worker to give us unnecessary headache.

That's what happen to people who put themselves into that position. Doctors and patients are supposed to be able to trust each other. If they cannot trust each other, then they shouldn't continue their relationship.

Please cite an instance where a doctor has ever refused treatment for a patient who refused to answer a question if that question was not pertinent to treatment.

Yeah, pedicatricians have nothing better to do than notify every insurance carrier, every social service agency, and every police dept. of the name and address of every parent who owns a gun.

Yes, indeed. But would it have been prevented by a doctor asking a child if the parents owned a gun?

Who is "us"?

It only takes one accidental shot to the head to give a kid an unnecessary, and fatal, headache.

My priority is both and the laws. I do not believe in bending over laws in the name of safety. Guns protect children too from kidnappers, robbers, intruders, or animals.

I see that you have been unable to give me any scenario to how doctors come up with a reason to ask about gun possession as out of concern for child's safety.

I guess you haven't read the statistics.:cool2:

It has already been stated how it is reasonable to ask about gun possession in order to protect a child's safety.

What are you so worried about. You don't even have kids. It's not like the pediatricians are going to be asking you a darned thing.
