I agree, Mark sounds like a loony toon. However, he has lived a loony toon life.

Having to daily deal with sniper fire, RPG and IED's may have made him a little nutty.

Do this:

While hes outside and you have the chance... Drive a moving truck or something down the road right by him, turn the motor off then on. Enjoy.

(I did this before.)

I wouldn't be surprised if the store owner shot him :dunno:

if he is not well-known to his community, I doubt the locals would listen to him. It doesn't work like it did for him in military.

Exactly. The fact he even thought up of taking over a convenience store, making a new government of his own.... It would only magnify in the dire situations..

That's why ya'all gotta be wary of veterans who have been to fubar wars. Once they're diagnosed with PTSD... you just don't know how they will handle in a highly-stressful situation. PTSD has different main categories but I'm most concerned with this category called "Hyperarousals". Common symptoms are irritability, anger, poor difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly, increased tendency and reaction to being startled, and hypervigilance to threat. The worst part? Emotionally Dead.

Based on your post - your friend falls under that category. That is definitely very dangerous. Your friend will not even recognize you as "best buddy" if you challenge or question his actions. He will not hesitate to kill you if you're in his way (assuming that his symptoms are more pronounced given right condition).

Lol. I was thinking that all along. (I am assuming the scenario of a world-wide EMP disaster.) WHAT Market? How can people have access to it? What kind of currency will people use to trade with? I am sure paper money would be worthless. Wouldn't it make sense to bring along silver/gold to barter with?
I have so many questions on so many levels but will not worry. Everyone has to go sometime, and I would rather go with peace in my heart than with a snarl.

just have a supply of essential stuff like medkits, water, etc. That's something you can barter with for anything you need. easy.

Gold/Silver are useless unless we're in Mad Max scenario because... what the hell can I do with gold/silver? It's just a piece of useless metal to me unless I'm a blacksmith :lol:

I prefer a pack of water over a bag of gold coins.

Even though if you were a blacksmith, gold/silver is worthless. Too soft
