true. I got a degree in History which was a stupid idea. I actually wanted to be either a civil engineer (I'm fascinated with human traffic flow patterns and always thinking of ways it can be improved whether it's timing of traffic lights or efficiency at airports) or a financial consultant. My father wanted me to be a well rounded education and really pushed me into history. Ended up studying graphic design after university so I could get an actual employable skill.
It's true, one should study where the demands are and focus on them if they want to be employed.
I heard the movement has gone viral....I wonder how long before it goes bacterial...
I can name one. I have a BS in political science....The unemployed grads you speak of, what useless degrees do they have?
Never said firemen had to get a college degree, said one has to go to community, state or ivy college to be qualified for various careers.
YES, you did. Re-read post #540 where you said "when they graduate".
True, you can get a certification in certain fields but when you use that term you have to mean the college/university graduated the person. Certification is not graduation.
Graduation is a DEGREE.
I can name one. I have a BS in political science.
That's too bad. I'm glad students are not vilified like this in Canada.
Sometimes you have to adjust. Better to wash dishes and eat that sleep under a tarp and whine....that's not going to get you anywhere. You can flip burgers at night and hunt jobs during the day. As for pounding the pavement.....what happens under the tarp, stays under the tarp.
While I think the Rome riot is deplorable, it should not be used as a straw man to ignore or make fun of the very real issues that the protesters are protesting.
Also I am getting the impression that you condone the the U.S. banks engaged in fraudulent and criminal activities that lead to the crisis of 2008 and that they shouldn't be held accountable. As for telling them to get a job? Hello? There's a recession out there and even if the protesters were employed, these issues won't go away.
If people had any idea exactly what the banks did that led to the collapse, they wouldn't be making fun of the protestors and suggesting they call themselves the Flea Party. The banks broke multiple laws, and the government failed to hold them accountable for it.
And it's the affected who are being mocked. I don't understand this at all. There's more discussion of a bandana and a black mask and a piece of newspaper on a statue than the fraudulent activities of Wall Street that led to millions being foreclosed and unemployed. It just blows my mind.
Hey, some of you guys; it is impossible to shake hands with a clenched fist, yanno?

CLEVELAND, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) – An “Occupy Cleveland” protester tells police she was raped in her tent over the weekend.
Cleveland police are investigating an alleged sexual assault incident Saturday at the “Occupy Cleveland” rally involving a 19-year-old female student from Parma.
According to police reports, the 19-year-old student was instructed by “Occupy Cleveland” personnel to “share a tent with the suspect due to a shortage of tents.” The suspect identified himself as “Leland” to the woman. The woman told police that after she had thought the suspect went to sleep in his own bed, she slept in a sleeping bag provided to her by the rally.
The student went to school Monday and told a teacher about her sexual assault incident in Public Square — which is being classified as “kidnapping/rape” — prompting the teacher to immediately contact the authorities.
“Occupy Cleveland” is one of many movements taking place nationwide in the wake of “Occupy Wall Street,” which is protesting against corporate greed.
Emails from CBS Cleveland to the “Occupy Cleveland” movement were not immediately returned.
