until government refunds a fair share of corporate bailout back to protestors

Back to the main topic. How has OWS changed the economic crisis in America? Fewer foreclosures? More jobs? Fewer student loan defaults? More crooked executives gone to jail?
Also, how long will the protesters remain in the streets? Is there an established deadline or is it indefinite?
Don't students get loans from banks, not Conservatives or some general welfare fund?
Good question. Right now, it's about awareness and generating attention and discussion. That's huge. this movement is splashed in the news all over the world and people are now talking about it when they didn't for the past 4 years, it all got kinda swept under the carpet and most people don't even understand exactly how the market collapse happened in the first place. OWS' objective is to get people aware and educated so next time they vote, they will do so in a more informed manner.
Is there supposed to be a deadline?
You don't see a connection between Conservatives and banks? About government bailouts and failed banks? About not bailing out banks and people making bad choices?
Why is this debated all the time? Conservatives are saying "That ain't my problem" or "Too bad, so sad" and closing their pocketbooks/wallets. It is part of their core philosophy. They prefer to give when and where they choose. They don't want their money to go into a general fund. They want to target, say, NRA or Children's Hospitals, not welfare or SS.
Not taking a personal gripe to you DD7, just using your post to illustrate.
Any candidates in particular?Good question. Right now, it's about awareness and generating attention and discussion. That's what I'm asking. Are they all unemployed and homeless? Are they going to live in the parks for months? Years? Is there supposed to be a deadline?
I mean, did African American equality come a month after the Civil Rights Movement?

conservatives would love it if america thinks it's all the people's fault that bankers are corrupt and violating the laws and behaving so irresponsibly that they had to file for bankruptcy leading to the market collapse.
Boehner - a Republican - had been fighting the Dodd-Frank act that was designed to prevent the market collapse - because he believed in protecting the interests of the banks. He also pleaded for TARP (bank bailout) to be passed. Guess which President signed the TARP act. Bush.
And now that the banks did collapse - Republicans did a total about-face and started bitching about bank bailouts when in fact they were pushing for it when Bush was in power.
Similar to promoting people to go to college to further their careers. When they choose a career that ends up failing, it is time for the "Too bad, so sad" dance.
I don't think even being a medical student and becoming a doctor would help pay off the student debt in the short term. That's how bad the student debt is. When I hear 100,000 in student loans, I think gee they guy must be a medical student at some top rate school.True, but geez, can't they accept that some (I'd even say MOST) people who take out school loans ARE just damn lucky, not smart about their finances?!
Also, don't (general) you ever wonder that we put ourselves in this position? We make college graduates in such high regard that most job positions refuse to accept applications from those who did not go to college? So if you don't have rich parents and you want a chance to earn real money, you will have to take a risk. Otherwise, you are most likely going to be stuck in the same income bracket as your parents.
By the way, those who work during college, their income don't even make up for most of the loan payments, so they would still get screwed over if they don't find a good job after graduation.
Okay, I think I am done.
So OWS.... I really hope something good comes out of it. But it's WAY too early to tell. I mean, did African American equality come a month after the Civil Rights Movement?

I even know someone who had to resort to go to medical school in Puerto Rico because it's much cheaper there.
Some people may think "Now, that's a smart guy. He knows he can't afford medical school in the US, but he mitigated risk and found a way to become a doctor for less."
But then again, they also might think "Dumb ass gave US money to another country when our schools really need it!!!! And who knows what standards Puerto Rico has in their "medical schools"!! I'm never going to a doctor who was educated by some 3rd world country!"
Sigh....
If you refuse to have a "foreign" doctor, you're going to limit the pool of talent surgeons and specialists. I've had specialists from various places and they've all been talented specialists.
In Canada, it's not so much about refusing to be treated by a foreign doctor that's the problem, it's the standards one has to meet to qualify for a profession so requirements to be a lawyer in Pakistan for example may not be the same requirements to be a doctor in Canada.
True, I knew someone that is a doctor (assuming he told me the truth) in India but USA didn't accept his degree so he became a manager at Walmart.
