ive had this very same discussion with a drug addict i knwo and he used th every same lines.
i couldnt get through to him how what he does actually harms others,...

The same wood they are cutting down is use to build many things including houses and I'm sure it's hurting the animals would you boycott your house to save the animals I highly doubt it. And I see every living thing the same way but I am living and I'm living for myself right now to better my self so I can go own and have the ability to help others face to face. Sacrifices are always necessary to get to the bigger issue or root of the problem.

Why would I tell a parent the best choice the have for their deaf child is a CI know that isn't true. I would definitely tell them to learn to sign and too look at the local deaf school and do everything they can to be in their child's life not the other way around. They can wait til their child can make that life time choice for themselves. That's why it would be different.

multi national companies and their combined system through policy and action DENY sign language to Deaf.
they are profit driven entities.
in order for us to stop them denying our language to our children we need to effect their profits.
it sucks
we would prefer if they would just stop denying our language to our children, at th every least alas is that so much to ask?

Okay... but would you not say the very fact that you have them, would be a push to get CI.... oh meet Dr. SP she is our dear doctor who is a CI user herself.... you would become a card for them to pull out for any possible undecided parent to a CI decision. Maybe it is not by choice on your part... but it is but one way it would be used...

You are the one who brought up the oil companies and people cutting down trees I just replied to what you brought up.

And I know what a multi nation company does I have said that multiple times. And your the one that is still going around in circles on something that I have already made my mind up about. I am far from stupid I know my IQ score and I understand very well. I never asked to be one of anybody cause I am me and I am happy with being me and doing what I want to do for my life. That won't change. My deafness was cause by an injury not a natural hearing loss. I have had plans to go to med school since I was a pre teen and that won't change either.

If you keep saying I don't understand and your trying to get me to see from the deaf community point of view. I do understand and I do see the harm in a child's choice of a life long decision being taken from them but I'm no child and I'm doing this for me and no one talked me into it and one one is pushing it on me.

If people in the deaf community choose not to accept me for this that is fine that is their choice and my feeling will not be hurt. S the deaf school I am going to has plenty of people with CIs and some were adults when they got their CI and were born deaf so the community here I don't foresee them having any issues with me doing the same.

I would tell them I decided as an adult to get my CI because it's a life changing and permanent decision. I would tel them that individual need to choose that for themselves. If they choose to still get one that is their choice. I'm don't believe in controlling anyone's mind on anything. But I would let them know all of their opinions with a CI being the last.

Yes moving on cause my choice is final. And yes that was a topic of discussion when I spoke to a CI user that is born deaf and we agreed on the topic.

And you have stated a lot on my thread that was only about just sticking with one or getting two. So instead of you just repeating over and over the same thing with no results just be done with on this thread cause my mind won't change.

You can believe in what you want and you what you want with your fight against CIs but do it with ones that have a light of changing their minds not with someone who is already made up. It's pointless. On August 5th I will be implanted and that's it.

Yes it was about both. You can't have deaf rights with being deaf. They interviewed the man saying that they were not forcing the treatment on anyone but at the same time telling the parents that it was the best choice for the child to have the best chance at life which is just a manipulation. The film was a future film v.s a documentary of facts so I guess it was on if we were talking about worst scenarios.

what does the D in Deaf mean?
 
Sweet Princess,

The D refers to Deaf Culture. When a deaf person accepts being deaf. They usually immerse themselves in sign language. Have Deaf friends. Go to Deaf events. That sort of thing.

There has been controversy about whether HAs and CIs are acceptable for the Deaf. Frankly, my opinion is to each their own. I'm very much Deaf but I still do wear HAs.
