Sweet Princess,

The D refers to Deaf Culture. When a deaf person accepts being deaf. They usually immerse themselves in sign language. Have Deaf friends. Go to Deaf events. That sort of thing.

There has been controversy about whether HAs and CIs are acceptable for the Deaf. Frankly, my opinion is to each their own. I'm very much Deaf but I still do wear HAs.

I know all of that and I'm not Deaf I'm deaf but I will use what I can because of school and the career I have chosen. I don't think it will make me less deaf but it will help me in my career.

I am also a type 1 diabetic and my insulin & meds are made by multinational companies. I am not going to die just to spite a multinational company.

Are you a teacher now I'm not a child and you won't talk to me like one. I have defined what Deaf/deaf/HoH means in previous post. I go to the doctor today to tell them what I want to do and that's it.

in all this discussion there's two DIFFERENT things - one is deaf as a medical or other type of problem/conflict <also individual-oriented>, and one as Deaf <group oriented>. Deaf is culture which includes -or is- language. Language and cultural genocide have historically been related in minority communities.

and you are aware the ideas and attitude you have shown very clear in this thread, will not do much to help your career in regards to terping for the very people whos very large and deep concerns, that is very deep and very large concerns about their very future and survival you have dismissed on here..

Well if they want to refuse help from an interpreter and not get all the understanding from the condition then that is their issue not mine.

Well you need to learn some respect because I'm am not a child and no you will not communicate to me at all like I am a child and making a decision for myself is far from childish and this is my thread so I can say what I please on my thread if you don't like it then you can get off it cause your opinion now means nothing to me. There are many companies that do what you are saying in their own way.

The world doesn't revolve around anyone not even the deaf world.

There are many medical issues in the world and every one of them has its issues good or bad that affect the individuals with what ever condition or disability that they have.

Companies everywhere no matter the product is good and bad at the same time. Everyone is always going to be affected be something. It's not just the Deaf community or culture it's the world that we live in.

Your making as if the Deaf culture and people is the only victim of something like this when that is definitely not true. Your one of meany and that doesn't give the reason to boycott a product.

I don't know everything about the Deaf culture, I do know the. Controversy about the CIs and the fear of a lost language and culture but every culture feels that way.

If you don't want a CI or any other Deaf or deaf person then so be it don't get one that is your choice and your have a right to that choice. Just as I have the right to my choice.

All cultures have a fear of the end. People have been trying to control and take over the Muslim religion and people for decades and Jewish people and every other region and culture for decades beyond decades and look they are all still here.

If people would just let people live their lives and stop trying to be so over baring and control like you are then maybe we won't have so many issues in the world. Let people live the lives they want.

Respect is given regardless that is the problem with people. People think they are above others and think everyone needs to earn respect wrong it's just given its called having manners and etiquette. I was raised to always give respect to my elders and younger peers. No matter what show respect. No one has to earn it from me I just give it and I will recieve it.

What the other companies do don't have anything to do with my choice either like I said I have my own mine.

And I have a very open mind. Your not understanding that I understand both sides about CIs but I still choose to get one.

I don't care what anyone else is doing for me to do what is best for me. And your so close minded to see that the many companies out there deny people of something everyday so like I said it's not all about the Deaf world they are not the only ones suffering.

But on a good note I decided to go with my right CI by AB and a left Hearing aid from Phonak. They are compatible with each other and maybe after a year or so I will get my left if I feel the need to.

yes i guess English is dying and those who use and speak english are very afraid that they are getting assimilated by majority culture...
Chinese is dying..and they are very very scared they are being assimilated by another culture....
