Jillio I was looking for that book on Psych. of Deafness and found many similar titles but wasn't sure which one was the one you meant - if you have or can reference the author sometime I'd appreciate
:ty:

yes, I agree this thread is an important and serious one - important to keep it open and not get locked. At least, I am learning from this thread and hope it doesn't get locked.

no need to lock this thread because it does happen in reality everyday! i have to deal with those people in this office as I am doing my best to educate them. I don't let them think less of anyone who is asl users. each day they found that any asl users are pretty capable of anything as well we hearing people do. *shrugs*

People in general have a lot of misconceptions about anything "not like them" - including the actual idea of "not like them"
I also try to model for and teach people, how their misconceptions can change.
Sometimes people are open to understanding. Other times - no. But that is something in them that prevents the learning.

now I am seriously in need of pie

and also seriously trying to keep up with this long thread

Me, too. Seriously, I am making a few apple pies. How's that for empathy?

Yeah, this thread is so long that it makes me weary to even consider reading it in its entirety.

This thread is enough to give me diarrhea. :P Pepto bismol, anybody?

I read the whole thing; even I can't do the cliff notes on this one. It's too all over the place!

And I find it sad that someone would be so resistant to learning when it can do nothing but benefit them and those around them.

I've been posting all the way from the beginning, and it makes me sad for the deaf children in the world today, and astonished at the level of denial in here.

Frisky Feline: my favourite pie: homemade- "tourtiere".

I think this has been the most interesting thread on the whole AD site! Any time someone says something that makes me stop and think is a plus in my book... even if I disagree with them.

What can I say? I'm a thinker! :hmm:

so... basically you like a meat pie? :hmm:

That would kind of make sense. The rest of us are discussing dessert pies made of fruit or other sweet ingredients. Drphil discusses a meat pie. That is the way his responses go to most all topics around here.:laugh2:

We should all be challanging ourselves on a daily basis. The problem is not too much thinking; the problem is far too little.

Now I want mincemeat pie. No, I want porkpies and I'm not talking about hats!
