Breaking News! CNN announces Osama Bin Laden is Dead !

Good job Obama and his team! And the Armed Forces! So glad that this terrorist who wants to murder all of us is dead.

I know that it is not the end of terrorism.

I am curious what they were watching - rumor is that they were watching the raid live... and clinton looked horrified.

And I am even more surprised how unassuming Obama is in that picture. He's not dominating the room.. pretty much sits in the corner watching TV.

But of course he ordered the killing. So I am sure he's thinking, "I sure hell hope I did the right thing. Kill him!"
This is what it stated on news.com.au front page with the very same image -

"The moment President Barack Obama watched Bin Laden die via a video camera fixed to the helmet of US Navy Seal"

Everybody seems to be giving him credit. Some want more. What can we do? It's a great day for America.
It can be great day for most americans - some aren't - like the other said, they still fear of terrorism. Otherwise, we all know it is not the end.

I read that the raid took just 40 minutes. That was pretty fast!

I saw somewhere that some of the soldiers involved in this operation said that 40 minutes felt like days to them.

no it isn't. home raid should take like 3-5 minutes. I couldn't believe when I read it was 40 min! :eek3:

Of course, we still fear terrorism but at the same time we are relieved that this killer is dead. The highway electronic signs were saying "Report Suspicious Activity...call this *******" all over the highways today. They were posting the same message for like 4 months after 9/11 and then again every now and then. Now, it had been a while but now we are back to being reminded that the threat of terrorism is still alive and well during our commute, errand runs, and road trips. It is no fun seeing those signs and have to think about it.

I am more on edge because my husband uses the DC Metro system during the work week so yes, I am nervous about a retailitation for Bin Laden's death but we had to show that we will fight back.

Hah, nope. One younger brother. Though I was thinking more extended family - my mom's got three siblings, and my dad six.

My mom had 3 sibs, my dad 11. So many cousins they can't be counted.

But, back on topic.

Given the precautions that had to be taken and the size of the compound? I mean, most home raids don't have to deal with the issues that had to be dealt with in this case.

I agree. I am utterly sure it wasn't 40 minutes of shooting.

Yeah, we will be on high alert for awhile. But without their leader, AlQuaida has lost some of their potency.
