Anything like this?

Not even close. There were no rough edges-- all smooth, and when I did the sound test, it didn't sound right. Also, it was lighter than a US Quarter, which was a red flag.

What is the sound test?

It's a way to tell if the quarter is genuine or not. You drop it on something solid, and listen to the sound it makes, and having dropped my fair share of quarters on wood before, I know that sound quite well, and when I dropped the one I found, it did not sound like a genuine quarter, and that led me to check the source to see if it was fake.

Oh, OK. Sort of like running your finger around a wine glass to test if its crystal.... thanks I learn new stuff Evey day

Silver coins are lighter than others. And have many different variations over the years since the US started making coins. Can't say for sure without seeing it.

That's probably true. However, I checked for markings on the coin, and there weren't any there, another red flag. No year, no US Government engravings.

Wow, I wish I had that much time to investigate a coin so thoroughly and then the extra time to waste to take it to the police or wherever when they aren't going to give it the time of day because it's a QUARTER!

If Mark moves to Tampa so he will be SMART like you.

I'd be mad if I ever handed a counterfeit $20, $50 or $100 if I were to try to buy something and the store finds out it's a counterfeit. Those are common counterfeit for drug money. Fake coins isn't a big deal to me even it's a quarter or a dollar coin, I'd just move on.

Fox.... You can come to Tampa with me any time... That offer extends to you. I refuse to make any more room in Tampa other than that! :D

Okay, Scott and Calvin can come to Tampa too... :P

And why the heck would I to move there for? I'd like to stay away from those ginormous mosquitoes down there.

because of warmer climate, beautiful area, awesome deaf community crafted by Mewtilation and Jess, and allow Jess to kick your nut, and nice beach. :D

Mosquitoes? I think it will bad in Illinois during summer, but Alaska has a lot of mosquitoes too.

That's probably true, but if I'm turning in fake currency, I'm helping federal law enforcement, in a way. That's how I see it. They can use all the help they can get fighting the war on fake money.

Don't need my nuts kicked again, thank you. And FYI, we have lots of dragonflies here eating up those mosquitoes. It's their favorite snack.

The mosquitoes aren't as bad as they make them out to be. Everyone bases off rumors.

I've dealt with mosquitoes, bees, wasp, fire ants, and I'm still here.

Still not getting my nuts kicked.

Note to self: if I ever visit Florida, wear a cup.
