I will tell you this.... I worked for the Water Division, I worked on main breaks all winter long, in and out of the water below freezing temps, and I will tell you, if my life depended on me staying warm ...Buy Carhart coveralls with the jacket, I wore my standard levi jeans and t shirt , hoodie and I was toasty all winter. If you get too hot you can take the jacket or the hoodie off to regulate... those are my weapons of choice!!!! and if you are all for looks, got to a sporting goods/farm supplie store and buy the hunting clothing....will cost you a total between $150 and $250 for everything but I will gaurantee you that you wont be cold. I also wore REDWING 10" logger boots, they are Thinsulate lined, your feet never sweat (even in the summer heat) and run you $300+tax. I paid for my first pair and work bought them ever since yearly, but the boots are so well made that a pair lasted me 3 years, so sometimes sold a pair for extra money. all these items are water proof, warm, keeps you dry.
Gloves, you will have to shop around, we were issued FireFighter gloves, so they were 100% water proof, insulated and very heavy, I still have a pair that are new and an old pair I use for stoking the fires in the wood burners, they are like heavy duty oven mitts with fingers....lol
