Wow.

And I am grateful to be in an apartment.

Yeah, I know you get own your own house and all, but geez... sometimes the property taxes themselves are worse.

Pretty same in IL, you will pay high property tax in Chicago metro so it seems like common in big cities in midwest and northeast states, even some southern states, probably FL and Texas (in Dallas).

In here, property tax is very low.

So much of Federal and state taxes are taken out of my paycheck...almost half of my paycheck is gone due to taxes and teacher's pension. If only 1/4 was taken out, I would be fine but half? That's too much for me.

Maybe you should move here to Ontario since they are much more generous with the teachers here.

Good grief. That is an insult to the teachers who went through years of colleges and universities to acquire their teaching degrees.

The high pay in Yukon makes sense since it's a territory instead of a province. Low population but there must be a high demand for teachers since they are well-paid. Not to mention the high costs of food and such over there since they are imported and such.

Yike!!! I hate federal tax, it took alot of money out of my paycheck, I was like WHOA but state tax isn't really bad.

Same with SS tax, it is pretty too much.

state tax isn't too bad to you because you don't have a lot of asset under your name especially property tax. wait until you own a car, house, etc. under your name.... and you'll see :)

on federal level - there are income tax, social security tax, and medicare/medicaid tax. it's fairly simple.
on state level - there are 23432423423423423 other taxes

I'm talking about payroll tax, we have lower state tax so it was very little for us.

In general, AL is lower tax on anything.

I already asked her and don't want disclose it.

State tax in our state is pretty low since federal tax is just same as rest of US, I already know, period.

I'm not asking you to disclose it to us. It's for you to find out if there is a huge or small difference between state taxes and federal tax paid in a year.

you don't reach the bracket enough to pay for federal tax... which is why you will get a nice tax refund.
