I don't know what the advantages, disadvantages are, but I am just using my Sanyo VPC e2100 - I paid nearly $350 for it but it can currently be purchased for a lot less now. Even an el cheapo digital camera generic brand can be used for this as long as it has a threaded mount receiver. All you need to do is find the right size threaded bolt and you imagination to make a mount.

I keep a few cans of rustoleum in the basement specially that flat black lol :laugh2:

As far as his bracket rusting sure painting it would help but I don't think he leaves it outside or rides it for hours in the rain so rust wouldn't really be a concern. Usually the only time my bike saw water was when I washed it or I get caught out on the road and it started raining.
 
oh no RG 500's on the list?? oh it didn't have TOP speed but it is fierce alright, it would scare Mew pretty good, I'd bet ya

yes the thin wall would do terrible job of absorbing shocks......tubular makes bouncy...get Go Pro wear it on your helmet......(entirely different camera but LOTS people uses it and many have success)

OK! All I could see was the guy speeding down a steep hill and not being able to stop b/c of weight of the trailer. That would be a fun way to camp out. If I was 47 years younger I would had been game for this.
 
Few days ago, I rode over railroad track without slowing down. Just a little bouncy bounce at 50mph (lifted my butt off the seat while going over the rr track) while I was in hurry to work. After work, I was heading home in different direction, my speedo was acting up, flipping up and down constantly eventually stopped working. I suspect it was a magnet in front wheel spindle got broken due to rough bumps. Originally magnet was broken accidentally when I was installing wheel with new tires in 5 years ago. The magnet look like tube with 4 flanges on one side. All 4 flanges broke off while trying to set it in with sensor while inserting axle rod in. I repaired it with superglue and gingerly setting sensor and set it correctly. Had no problem for long time and finally it failed.

I found out that magnet cost $30 at Suzuki Dealership. Since that I don't have much time to go over to get one. I would simply use paper thin plastic and use JB Weld and put plastic on table and put JB weld spread over on the plastic then put magnet tube on top of it with flanges re-assembled. let it dry and it would become very strong after drying.

I wish Suzuki should have re-design that don't have to set magnet inside the spindle, have a permanent embedded magnet base in spindle and sensor rod on fork so no one would have a hassle with brittle magnet. (Speedo Magnet issue is common for Suzuki Vtwin. )

It have been 5 years since I own my bike and it still runs great. I recently changed oil and using Synthetic oil instead of regular oil. I noticed that my bike feels more power and shifting seem smoother. Also it starts easily without using choke which is noticeable difference.

I am planning to buy nice Kuryakyn Highway pegs for my bike so I can rest my legs on highway bar.

I am planning on cleaning and spraying black leather saddlebags and leather seat with Rustoleum NeverWet spray. Because I got sick and tired of saddlebags flooded with my stuff inside of it when storm hit while I was at work. I just simply want dry bags for my stuff in during downpour. The can cost $16 so It's worth a try. It would be cool that rain water will bounce and fall off from leather seat without soaking it.

Anyone suggesting me ABS plastic saddles, I don't want solid ABS plastic saddles because it's brittle and shatters if dropped bike, not worth the money. Leather Saddlebag act like cushion and takes on road rash and still survive. I had an accident 4 years ago and only damaged is rear turn signal, crash bar and scraped left brake lever ball end, that's it. My saddlebag show little road rash because it's a thick leather, still using it now..

maybe you can spray your shirt, jean, leather jacket and shoes so If you got caught in downpour, you walks in bar with partly wet face. Many will amazed that you dried up quickly as soon as you stepped inside bar. :rofl:

My dad has plastic saddle bags... He likes them... :dunno: I personally can't STAND saddle bags.... I think they make motorcycles look hideous. They came on my Stryker when I bought it and before I left the lot I told them to pull them off! I would not even leave the lot with them on the bike. ( Just like my windshield ) I made my dad put them in the car and drive them to my house and in the garage is where they will stay! If I ever decide to sell the bike or trade it in, sure... I'll put it with it to increase the value... but I think they make the bike look absolutely revolting... like it has a giant butt... Seeing saddle bags on cruisers makes me cringe almost as much as seeing a scooter do the bike wave and expect one back does! :laugh2: Seriously, I can't stand them... :shock: My dad really likes the plastic ones... He has had his V-Star Warrior Midnight for a bit now and it has the plastic bags... Granted his bike is a 1700 and it's supposed to and IS bulky as hell already so I suppose they don't really matter... Mine is an 1100. :dunno: I still look at his bike and tell him it would look 20 billion times better without those damn bags... I suppose for convenience they're good... but that's why I have a backpack.... :squint: I put my saddle bags on ONCE and it's when I went to bike week in Daytona... I took them off as soon as I got to the hotel and they didn't go back on until I left to come back to Tampa, either. Blech! I have a quick release windshield and I just snap it on and off and use it if I know I'm going on the interstate or a longer ride. If I'm riding locally ( like I do most of the time ) the windshield stays off. My dad used to use a water resistant spray on his old leather ones on his V-Star 1100 until he upgraded to the 1700. When I upgraded to my 1100 it killed him and he had to jump up to a 1700.... :roll: You know, my father can't have the same size bike as his little girl... :roll: He never had any water issues. If it's more than a 20% rain chance, I drive my car... I don't risk it. Got caught in the rain on my Honda Shadow once... never again... never since. ( Talk about downpour! ) I don't like having to wax the spots off all of the paint and chrome more than anything honestly.... :squint: So, I don't risk it, they stay in the garage if it's more than 20% chance! Never again.... NEVER! :squint: The GSXR isn't bad, that's all plastic, but the Stryker is metal and chrome being a cruiser and so was my Shadow.... :mad2: Anyway... As for saddlebags. Everyone have their preference. For me, Saddlebags is a must for me. It's not big saddlebag as you mentioned. It's a meduim sized which is good enuf for me. I use it to bring lunch box, phone charger and few item for work (at my work, they disallows backpack which is why). As for vacation, I can put in can of oil, 1 gallon gasoline can, tools on one saddle bag and other would be drinks, phone charger, rider gears and few items which is neccessary for long trip. I do have backpack which is made for motorcycle, slip it over sissy bar and bungee tie it. I travels to campground sometime which requires me to brings enough items. If I am just riding for fun of it, I would leave can of oil and phone charger in place and rest of bags is empty. If I am riding locally and not riding "2 up" then I would remove rear seat, sissy bar and saddle bag, basically naked bike.

As for spray, I wish I can spray on glasses or any glass. Problem is that it's more of "frosty" look if sprayed on it. Not worth it. I wish they develops one that is clear and use for glass so rain can rolls off. lol. If they do, I would grab that can!!! Spray on motorcycle windshield, my biker glasses.

Spray on clothes would be better because if I get soaked wet, I would be shivering in cold wet clothes. I would just spray old shirt, good old jeans and shoes so to keep me dry and warm when I get to the place. It would be much easier not having to change clothes after riding in downpour.

Those who braved through downpour often should receive dangling steel balls and hang it under rear fender of motorcycle. :rofl:

Personally, I've repaired my friend's Yamaha Vstar 1100 starter clutch and replaced starter motor. I rode it and I did not like the ride. It feels like I am sitting on high chair on little bicycle. Suzuki Volusia or Boulevard C50 (commonly called VL800) is comfortable and seat is lower than Vstar. IMHO, it looks more sexy. My bike is quick to get around even it's heavy and long bodied. Cop pulled me over and he love my bike and wrote me a warning ticket for speeding and on ticket, Make: Harley Davidson. Sheesh! Cop thought it was Harley. Other thought it was a Harley Fatboy. I had to prove them that it's Suzuki!! I did caught someone saying that guy's motorcycle made me feel like I'm riding a minibike (He is referring to my long big motorcycle made his motorcycle look like a minibike :rofl: ) Seriously, Honda Shadow look damn like a minibike when I approched and lined up with big guy on little Honda Shadow at stoplight (He look like he is actually sitting on peewee bike). He looked at me and my bike, he smiled at me and I smiled back and rev up throttle quickly leaving him in dust as soon as green light lit. :rofl:

I did want Kawasaki Vulcan but I fell for Suzuki because it's very customizable and can be lowered easily with longer "dogbones".

In our area it's not safe to drive a car much less ride a bike in the rain. Lots of flooded streets and accidents. We have done it but I don't like it. We keep rain suits with us. If we know there will be a good chance of rain we usually don't ride but we have "pop up" showers here with absolutely no warning sometimes.

Hey now... I'm a girl, ( around 5'9 and 125 pounds now, so I'm not exactly huge! ) a Honda Shadow Spirit worked well for me! I loved my Shadow! That was an awesome bike... I traded it for my 1100 Yamaha Stryker I have now. I still miss that Shadow though.... but the Stryker is very sexy, so I get by. :) I can't exactly support a giant ass bike! :laugh2: MY father is impressed I can hold up a 1300 crotch rocket and an 1100 Stryker!

As far as for your windshield, you want Rain-x. That stuff will make water bead and roll off your windshield like nothing else. I use it on my bike windshield and in my car windshield wiper fluid reservoir. I'm telling you, that crap is amazing.... rolls right off there.... Never used it on my glasses.... But hey, who knows? :dunno:

I get compliments on my Stryker and got boat loads on my Shadow, it's all in how you take care of it and how it fits you... that's all. :)
