A Motorcycle Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

Also police CAN stop you and give you citation for unsafe driving or riding, some cases they will force have proper vehicle towing them, the fine won't be as light as you think it would be. You can tell cop Im driving carefully, and the cop would be like

Can a bike, NOT SUV, or any car, just a bike alone pull that trailer EVEN when riding carefully, Jiro????

I'm rolling both of my eyes up right now!

Steiny, after you get it all figured out, I suppose you know to get a hitch that swivels.......

Wirelessly posted

Hello everyone, I came across this forum when I googled deaf motorcycle club. Kind of skimmed through the older posts yesterday. It looks like some of you have been here for years. Anyway, I am from Kansas, grew up in Olathe area (20 miles south of Kansas City, Ks). I'm pretty quiet and keep to myself so I am not well known in the Olathe area. I rode motorcycles a lot growing up well into my late teens. I made a lot of bad choices and hung out with wrong crowds when I was younger and put myself into big debt that I couldn't recover from for at least ten years. It didn't help that I was major alcoholic and spent all my money on alcohol. Finally I recovered, many thanks to my loving wife who put up with me for last 5 years in my recovery, and financially stable to buy motorcycle that I have been wanting to buy for many years. I do still enjoy beer on weekends but I am in better control these days. Finally I am back on my feet and bought motorcycle after 17 year hiatus. I now am riding 2001 Suzuki Volusia (VL800) and love it. Guess I just want to say hi and hope to make some friends I can go riding with. I'm not much for short rides (bar hopping), I prefer longer trips. I hope to get to know everyone and meet new friends.

I am not using the 4 x 8 trailer from harbor freight to make the tear drop camper. I only posted it since we were talking about trailers to tow a bike with (Saavik saying he needed a trailer).

But .... assembling this trailer has given me a lot of really neat ideas. For example ... did you know there are 2x4's made out of PVC? :eek3:

Durable, sturdy and lightweight !!!

I mean .. wow! I can make the whole tear drop camper nearly entirely out of PVC materials. They even make 4x4 sheets. The only thing metal would be the axle and axle springs and the rims on the tire.

The Harbor Freight trailer I bought weighs 220 lbs. without any of the wood for the floor or railing. If i made the exact same trailer but 4 x 6, and made it out of PVC material ... it would probably weigh 100 lbs. But I don't know. :hmm: (maybe closer to 75-80 lbs)

In other words ... I could make it much lighter than even this:

If it is made out of PVC material, it won't have to be tinned, its already waterproof, lightweight, durable and will never rot.

OK, the following pictures do not belong to me - they belong to someone who I was referred to (the owner of the pictures designed aircraft and is now retired)

This was a trip in 1963 on a BSA 750 (yes, a 750 pulled that trailer up a mountain):

Lately, I have been avoiding riding motorcycle due to injury I have. I was too terrified to ride and risk paralysis from any accident. But, yesterday, I had the balls to ride free because friend of mine need his truck back, and he just simply lend me his bike so I can get my ass back home which I did. Man.. 11 miles in wind! I love every bit of it. Too bad, that bike is pretty much beginner's cruiser bike. As veteran, I understand why it is called beginner bike. It is, and the weight is way way too light for me. (650cc) and I prefer bigger one. Done told my friend, he will see what I mean when he's comfortable with his bike and try bigger one, he will fall in love with bigger one.

Damn it! I can't wait for my neck to get healed. It seems longer than I thought. Grrrr!

That's incredible !!

I don't think I would ever pull a trailer like that on my bike. Not that I can't do it, but too many stupid people on the road. I can barely get around as is without a cager running my butt down. I prefer to just strap down a tent and ride.

On another note, you notice how serene and beautiful the countryside is in the pics? Amazing! You would be hard pressed to find a lot of undeveloped areas like that today.

Sorry for the double post, I'm learning how to do this. :D
