A Gun Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

I see he got the starter kit

He has an 870 12 gauge between two SKS rifles. The other rifles to the right appear to have bull pup stocks on them.

Those SKS appear to be Norinco ??? There is no grenade launcher on them like the Yugo's have (I used to have one before that fatal boating accident).

Did you feel hot when you get in car before start the engine? It happened to me all time.
If it's hot out, yes.

Do you feel cold in the winter in the North when you get in the car before you start the engine? Do you have to brush the snow off the car? Scrape ice off the windshield? Dig out the driveway?

Yes, very annoying during winter.

Brutal summer is no better - I have to drink plenty of water or Gatorade, deal with sweat on my back, wear light t-shirt (not black :ugh:), if AC break or iced up so all heat goes in house and sometime, I have to work outside.

The winter is bad because my nervous went too intensely and impossible to calm down until I find a place to warm.

Tough choice - I pick summer heat over winter.

I prefer mediterranean climate.

I filled the windshield fluid in my car yesterday in brutal heat and my car was too hot to touch, so I just try to swing my hand between my car hood.

Lots of boating accidents these days  yea, looks like norinco with the triangular bayonets

I'm thinking of getting this handgun for CCW -

BERSA THUNDER 9 UC Pro

any opinion about Bersa???

Actually I have a friend who has a Bersa 9 and she swears by it. I've held it before and it's a pretty heavy gun for the size that it is, but doesn't have a ton of recoil which is nice. It's nice for women or men that have smaller hands, very comfortable to hold. I personally enjoy a little bigger physical size of a gun, but I'd own one. :P

Don't get a Bersa. Get a 9x18 Makarov. Or, a CZ 82, you will be happier.

in NJ - the max capacity is 15 rounds. so I can't get a gun if there's no low-capacity mag for it. absolutely ridiculous.

I like handguns used by the military rather than ones sold to civilians. I guess you could say that it gives me a bit more confidence that thousands of soldiers using it in combat would suggest it is a bit more reliable.

I buy for the caliber and for the ammo that is available too. I have carried many different handguns over the years, and the CZ 82 was by far the most accurate and never failed to feed. And yes, it is my personal preference and I understand that everyone has different "tastes" by I choose function and proven reliability over style. especially if my life might one day rely on it.

My favorite round though, is the 7.62x25

a .380 is a borderline round for me. I wouldn't trust my life with it but of the only option I would take it.

7.62x25 is a handgun round that has been proven time and again to penetrate better than even a .357 magnum or .45

Yesterday I realized how easy it could be for someone to get into trouble in a school for mistakenly bringing an empty brass shell casing onto the campus.

TCS and I had gone to our outdoor shooting range for some long gun practice. On the way home, we stopped at a fast food place for my pit stop and for Hubby to get a drink. After I came out of the restroom I was walking around the restaurant while waiting for his drink order (which had gotten mixed up). I kept feeling something in my shoe sole scraping on the tile floor, so I sat down to see what it was. I thought maybe I had picked up a piece of gravel from the range. Instead, in the tread of my hiking shoe, I saw a shiny brass .22 shell (empty). It fit perfectly in the rubber tread. I pulled it out and threw it away. No problem.

BUT! Suppose I had that shell stuck in my shoe tread, or resting in the large tongue on my shoe, or in a rolled up pants cuff, etc.? Suppose I was at a school when I found it, or someone saw it?

I thought about so many American kids who maybe go hunting and then later go to school. They could easily, accidentally, have a shell stuck in their clothing or gear or vehicle without even knowing it. For that innocent mistake they could get into trouble with a paranoid school staff.

What a nervous Nelly world we live in now. :(

oh wow. never thought of that. I could imagine what would happen if someone saw an empty casing at bathroom :(

reminds me of this news I just read today. whoever reported it... what a really hyper-scaredycat this person is...

Years ago.... back in the UK, I owned a pair of L1A1 SLR's. It was when I was working for the Army on a disposal and logistics contract, so such things like these were easy to find as the Army still had thousands in storage - despite the fact that all of them were supposed to have been destroyed or sold off in the late 80's.
Still can't understand why they were totally replaced by the SA80. I can remember a company being issued with the SA80 during Gulf War I and EVERY SINGLE GUN jamming due to the sand and heat. Meanwhile the SLR just kept on working...

what for? I don't wanna accidentally shoot someone behind a thug. if it's that strong.... it would go thru him and onto other.

A .380 may not even penetrate the leather jacket of a thug. What if the thug is shooting at you from behind a wall? You have an instant wall hack with a 7.62x25

And ... I don't know of many people who would be hiding behind a thug.

I am picking one of these up in a couple of weeks:

time to revive this thread!

that reminds me. I'm back from DR. Landed 6 hours ago. A very pleasant time in DR for little over a week. My ex's cousin is a cop and he carries that handgun. You know what makes me  ? He was off-duty and come over to drink beer with us. He didn't have a holster. He just tucked it thru his belt with a barrel resting in a small pocket above pants pocket.

I asked him - why not get a holster? He doesn't speak english so my ex translated for both of us.

he - too bulky and I want to keep it concealed
me - but you know there's IWB holster
he - eeeehhhhh eeerrrr eeeehhh eeeeerrrr *shrug*
me - ooookkkkk..... well - better an ass than a dick, ya know what I mean?
he chuckled and that was it.

there was a talk between me and my ex that I should live in DR for several months. I said I'll think about it but I'd want to carry a gun. She asked her dad because he's a government official and he can make an arrangement for me. Many police officers and military guards carry shotguns like this -

Non-Gun-Shotgun-Pistol-Grip-Black.jpg

but... I see a lot of shotguns are kinda rusted out. pretty sad.

You know, someone who seemed really knowledgeable in another thread said he saw some shotguns that could take more than two shells.

Absolutely amazing stuff.

I was wondering what that 100 round drum was for ...
