A Gun Thread About Absolutely Nothing!

Yes, that's true but I should add "some" to my post above.

I know some gun owners love California so they don't want move to state that is middle of nowhere, so they prefer to deal with strict gun law.

For North vs. South, you have choice to deal - brutal winter in northern states OR brutal summer in southern states. :hmm:

That's why we have air conditioned stores, cars and homes in SC. I still have a touch of frostbite on top of one ear from living in MI. :(

I mean that people whom have lived in inner cities are more paranoid about other people than those from rural areas. They are less trusting of people.

And ... in most cases, they have a very good reason to be.

it's sad.... just plain dang sad....

I love it here. People are friendly and the 'paranoia' of the city is next to non -existent here. Kids still ride their bikes out in the open with their friends. They still go 'exploring' in the woods. It's nice. They grow up real slow like ... probably saving a lot of $$$ on therapy as an adult :giggle:

yea that's what my childhood life was like in NJ suburb back then. probably doesn't exist anymore now. maybe that's why there's ongoing exodus from NY-NJ to southern states :dunno:

I don't see many kids go outside and ride the bike in our neighborhood and our state has high child obesity. :(

It is getting bad now.

ironically.... in NYC - lot of kids are always outside playing b-ball, riding bicycles, etc. many public parks are always full of kids on daily basis. probably helps to have police appearances in those areas but it's still work in progress.

Oh I see, when I went to southern suburb part of metro and saw many kids play outside, but I live in northern suburb part of metro - more like exurb and it is pathetic area.

A few years ago I visited one of my childhood homes in South Plainfield, NJ. Wow, that neighborhood had changed! My elementary school had changed its name and looked very run down and old (it was a brand new school when I attended). :(

changed in a good way or bad?

South Plainfield.... I don't know too well about that town but the nearby towns like Old Bridge, Edison, and East Brunswick are booming fast and are heavily populated with Indians and Asians. very family-friendly towns and property value has gone up.

it's possible that South Plainfield has built another elementary school or is using elementary school in different town :dunno:

More commercial, more run down outside of the immediate neighborhood.

It was Crescent Parkway Elementary School. I found it (now John F. Kennedy Elementary School).

School Information / School Information

According to Google maps it was only half a mile from my house.

I liked that house. My brother and I had bedrooms in the converted attic (Cape style house).

It depends on what you consider "ethnic."

I don't find the summers to be brutal. I also like snowy days but not when they go on and on and on….

I wouldn't mind having a summer cottage in CT so I could visit family but it's just way too expensive to live up there again.

I think you are closer to coast so that why summer is not bad, but it is too way brutal in my state because coast is about 5 hours away.

Our summers are hot but there is plenty of AC available indoors and in vehicles. If you're not working outside it's bearable. It's hot work for construction and maintenance crews but at least they can work year round. Up North, they can't, or they have to find other kinds of jobs for the winter. Also, our motorcycle riding season is year long. We don't have to buy heavy winter clothing, scrape ice, or shovel snow. :giggle:

It takes us about 45 minutes to get to the beach. I wish it were closer. At my grandma's house in CT it was less than a mile to the beach. Now I don't know if I could stand swimming in the North Atlantic again. I got spoiled in Pensacola, and now SC. Our water is warm.
