Wait, some people are actually saying this is payback for Pearl Harbor??? That is absolutely ridiculous. That is childish and backward in so many ways, but let's just entertain that mindset for just a moment: 68 American civilians died in the Pearl Harbor attack. 200,000 Japanese civilians died in the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. That wasn't payback enough???

Unbelievable.
It makes no sense.

I saw on the news last night that they will be sending down a suicide group of volunteers armed only with walkie talkies and flashlights and hazmat suits to search for leaks. Are they for real?

Yes.

If they would send me, I would volunteer. Better only a few people get killed than a billion.

Glenn Beck is on Fox, and Rush is on the radio, so how do you follow what they say?

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart:lol:

Why is Reba "Granny" now? Did I miss some good news? :hmm:

My grandsons are 14 and 17 years old. I've been a granny for a while. :giggle:

Yup the group is called Fukushima 50. They knew they were going to die anyways when they went in there. Sure their very dangerous risk has raked my nerves in my body but they are true heroes to me.

Here's a link about the heroic group: http://www.nationalpost.com/news/Fukushima+risk+lives+prevent+meltdown/4452751/story.html

Why are they doing it? It is about the honor and noble cause that they have for their country and society, I think.

The plant operator described No. 3 -- the only reactor that uses plutonium in its fuel mix -- as the "priority." Experts described plutonium as a pernicious isotope that could cause cancer if very small quantities were ingested.

NewsDaily: Japan dumps water on overheating reactor

Reba, it just struck me as odd that someone referred to you as "Granny." I mean someone besides your grandchildren. :giggle:

all these water dumping by helicopters and fireboats.... it's completely useless :(

The only viable solution is to get the cooling system running.... nothing else. and that's what Fukushima 50 will attempt to. It saddens me that they will die a very painful death.

Depending on level of radiation there... each person will have x-minutes (maybe up to 15 min) before they pass out. They will work in turn. First few people will be inspecting the damage. Next group will be fixing it. Next group will take their place to fix it. so on. Each group probably have 2 shots at it but.... all of this... depends on level of radiation there.

You are so right..I believe they are heros..living an honorable life is very important to those people..as it should be for us all...I am so glad you mentioned this group and thanks to you too Wulfy..smile...I pray for an end to this tragedy soon, My heart breaks at every picture I see..I have no real idea on the magnitude of this disaster but I know this much...The horror of what has happened to that nation (one that took real precautions to ensure they had the best chance to survive something like this )has proven there are NO preparations that can completely halt a natural disaster..and yes there is a long and deep fault line on the east coast of the USA. We are a country that doesn't even have decent roadways. I pray for us all, we are one spirit, one earth, one people and we all must realize the importance of our contributions. We all must become aware and take pride in honor and Peace...Midnight♥♥♥

yes yes. peace to you. love to all.

Even if you live on the east coast, this event could effect what *was* going to be your food.
