What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

People who walk away from me when they're talking. Especially when they leave the room while talking. Gaaaah. My mother has decided the way to get my attention is to shine a flashlight in my face. WTF? I do get migraines, Mom.

Need advice about web caption phones....

Need advice about web caption phones....

I have a question about the web based relay services. I have been using phonecaption.com and haven't had any problems with it. But....I would like to use the phone more in my business, and the TOS says it's only for personal use. So, does anyone have suggestions for a service that allows...

    Social Skills

It seems to me that y'all are talking more about wanting or not wanting social interaction, rather than simply deteriorating social skills. For what it's worth, I make a point to get dressed and made up, hair done, nails done every day. That way I'm ready for anything. Makes it a lot easier...

May I also recommend a feather boa, and possibly a tiara?

    Social Skills

It's not just you. The older and more comfortable in my own skin I get, the less I care what people think of me. I try never to be unkind, but I'm the woman who has no problem saying at a party, "The more expensive a cheese is, the more it smells like feet. It's been nice talking with you."...

    Oh please help me

    Away from home

I always went straight to the shower, and stayed in long enough to be really decadent. I still do that, even if I've just been away for a short time. It is kind of my way to "close the door" on the day and tell myself it's time for "me" time. And don't get me started on the spa treatments...

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

As a mother, that just about makes my head explode....but I know crap like that happens.

    Was I rude?

Oh, I am definitely not ashamed! No worries there! :) It's phonecaption.com. It's been a wonderful service because I can use the hearing I still have. Thanks! Thanks for that. I use the phone in my work, so that's not an an option. Normally, I have my hearing...

What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

In high school, my Spanish teacher told the class to NOT start on the homework in class. I thought she said TO start the homework. She got mad and commenced to yelling...really tore me up one side and down the other. I was mortified. I never did become any good at Spanish in her...

    Was I rude?

Until recently, I would not have hung up, but would have just played along. I've gotten accustomed to the idea of saying, "No, just email me, send me a text message, but don't call me." Maybe he really didn't get it, but I admit I get ticked off easily when I think my communication needs are...

    Was I rude?

I have had a horrible case of the flu for about 2 weeks now. No HA's due to sinus congestion and earaches. A friend called me on the phone. This is a guy who is hard for me to understand on a good day with HA's. Because I have been flat on the couch, I didn't suggest that I call him back...

    The Talking Deafie

This breaks my heart. I'm sure you have people in your life who want to "hear" what you have to say.

    The Talking Deafie

I'm relatively late deafened and I talk so much people probably wish I would shut up! :giggle:

    Bluffing...

I am SOOO guilty of this! I don't do it all the time, though....mainly when I don't really care. In my work I have to listen to every word. At the end of the day, I'm like, "I'm tired of listening. Hearing aids out."

Anybody deaf who can speak multiple languages?

I am HOH, and can lipread in both English and Spanish. (Incidentally, I am trying to learn a little Chinese due to a recent marriage in my family, but I'm finding lipreading really hard in Chinese.) Since I got my new HA's, I am more confident speaking Spanish than I was before.....

    Perfecting lipreading skills?

It came naturally to me too. I can lip read in English and Spanish. Since I've gotten hearing aids, I've been much more comfortable speaking Spanish....
