    A Deaf's View Regarding CI

Did you have any deaf friends at all? Maybe it would have helped if you did. Cause that although I went mainstreaming I still had some deaf friends that I occasionally saw on weekends and so forth.

Mom of 3month old with hearing loss

FYI, I don't think NewMom has been to the Forum since last February. So you may want to send her a message. Hope this helps! And good luck!

What does Deafhood mean to YOU?

Good point. Although some would say it's not for their, but rather your own convenience.

What does Deafhood mean to YOU?

The Deaf identity is also somewhat peer influenced as well. I've seen some of the Deaf impose that on one another that if they were to do anything that'll supposedly stray away from their Deaf identity, "What will your Deaf friends think?".

Cause when I come up with certain thoughts, feelings or opinions, some seem to want to put a "negative spin" on them or make certain assumptions saying "You must have had some bad experiences in the past" and stuff like that. Yet, when I say "I've actually had more...

The "d"eaf have just as much right to have their own "d"eaf identity or feel good about it as the Deaf do about theirs.

And to throw you a little bit of a curveball jillio. And there are those that may also feel a little good about their "d"eaf identity. And that's when the "A" word usually gets thrown at them. ;) In another word it's only okay for the Deaf to feel good about their identity. But if the deaf do...

How are you feeling with your CI so far?

Being able to hear the ice cream truck from a distance, even when you're indoors and the windows are open! :)

    Deafhood

This is a "deaf and hard of hearing" forum to begin with. I don't even use "HOH" in accounts or forums that has nothing to do with hearing loss. While I do know of some of the deaf that pretty much have "deaf" in every one of their screenames even in accounts or forums that has nothing to do...

Well you did say the following to Koko: And if that's not a "What are you doing in AD then?" tone, then I don't know what is.
