I find it a bit more boring, to be honest. I don't miss the baiting and bashing, but I do miss the opinions.

The end result is like a neighborhood divided into two clubhouses. Both are weaker as a result. Just my opinion.

Perhaps, since they have so few resources for themselves, they tend to reject intrusions from people that try to make them feel defective. Just a hunch.

Not really. Just a few left. Plenty of opinions and disagreements to go around here. I'd say the mods are enjoying a much better forum environment without having their Post Reported inboxes filling up every day because someone decided to run to their Mommy over every little thing, sniveling and all.

I have never reported a post in my time here; only the obvious scammers and spammers. I think the reporting went both ways. Now with most of the members supporting a similar political agenda, there is far less of the type of postings that become heated.

None the less, I would prefer all the missing members and banned members to be under one forum. It feels a little less wide-reaching now with so many interesting perspectives no longer being presented.

Nothing wrong in having choices for a person who would want to spend their time in a forum of their choice. Having a few choices is better than having no choice. That's what competition is about. I've said this before, if you think you can build a better mouse trap, go for it. For the mods, it must've been a heck of a marathon cleaning out their complaint boxes day in and day out by those who can't hold their own by serial complainers. I can only imagine their relief now.
 
<turns head left> <turns head right> Wow. There seems to be a lot being said that I'm just not quite understanding... huh. Not even sure what I don't understand about what I don't understand. I'm having PTSD flashbacks of my high school calculus class...

I have a question for the masses:

The mother of "the boys" called a little while ago and amidst catching up on their lives she told me that it is her theory that the larger the concentration of folks with a lot of the same characteristics (whatever they may be) the more likely you are to see "the worst" that that group can offer.

Do you think that might be true? It made me pause because I wasn't sure... Maybe you can think of examples that show this? Or not?

I imagine their complaint boxes don't look any different these days than in the old days, what with who is still here. :wave:

Perhaps so, but I think the importance lies in the fact of those who are no longer here who had their own ideas of what AD ought to be and how some have tried to exert some control or influence over AD and its members. That failed miserably. It was like a mutiny gone bad on a row boat that never made it. That's the big difference nowadays when compared to the old days when you didn't see that happening back then. The seas are much more calmer and welcoming now.
