A better question would be, "What the hell were they doing with a loaded gun in the house with 2 small children in a place as easily accessible as a closet?"

And yes, people can change, but only if they want to. I remember my former temp girlfriend she got married and this man abuses her... my friends told me they witnessed it. She suffered and stayed with him and had 3 children. My former friend tried to take her away from him and he successed... but somehow she came back to her abuser husband on her own. Her husband was not doing anything while she left him but to cry and a heart broken after losing a woman. This is the problem with women sticking and stay with husbands. On TV Robin Givins had talked about women has problems staying with abuser boyfriend/husband. Like she did with Mike Tyson. She left Tyson and few years later Tyson feel bad and said sorry to her. Robin said she forgave him. She understand that some people have stresses problems and had bad past experiences which caused abuser doing this. My former friend abuses people and then he grew older and changed himself and became christain. He realized he made mistake and ask god to forgives him. So This Rev should had get a lesson taught by his wife but never did because she killed him. Killing will not teach them at all. So Be away and hide away is only way to goes and the abusive husbands will calm down in future and could have new life changed in him.

It is very difficult to have the court order somemone into therapy, especially in a domestic situation. The person first has to be declared incompetent tocare for themselves to get a comittment. The best that could have happened was that she charged him with assault, and he would get ordered to anger management classes. That would still leave the abuser out there on the street to continue the abuse.

I already explained the difficulty with her going to a shelter. I'm not saying that what she did was right, but I am saying that actions such as this are inderstandable when you look at the mental state of a woman who has been abused for years.
 
I think she should serve a sentence. People shouldn't be allowed to use things like mental and verbal abuse as a crutch or excuse to murder. What about coloumbine? The kids were verbally abused and worse, those of you who support the wife, well do you support the kids blasting their school mates for that reason? Hm?

Its not a matter of accepting it as an excuse, or as a proclamation that the behavior was acceptable. It is seeing a mitigating circumstance that created a behavior that would not become manifest without the circumstance.

No one will believe in her! They will believe in Preacher's words over her. She was doing for her own sake!! Self-Defense!!!
