Why California?

All 50 states get disasters....earthquakes, tornadoes, windstorms, icestorms, snowstorms, thunderstorms, hurricanes, dense fog, extreme cold, extreme heat, heavy rainstorms, erosion of beaches, and so on....no state is safe from disasters. :)

I've lived in South TX for 25 years. You are right about earthquakes, and mudslides. The coast will occasionally get hit by hurricanes.

The BIG problem here is that summer lasts nine months (temp 80 degree plus and humid). There are years when we will have temp 100 for day after day, so electric bill can be $200-300/month for house. I'd rather live somewhere that I don't need to run AC 24/7 for months.

that's why i want to live northwest!! i hate BLASTING AC! :ugh: and having to deal with POST NASAL DRIPS! and also having men GAWKING at my HARD NIPPLES sticking out mind u! :ugh:

I forgot to mention that people with allergies REALLY suffer down here..especially Mountain Cedar. My father suffers with Cedar every year, but still manages to work outside. It has never bothered me. LUCKY

I just hate to see people suffer.

Misery, Misery, Misery.....

What is wrong with Mississippi, Land is land.

I think they stay in California, because of
Hollywood and Disney.

State of Mississippi is most poverty in this country. I am not interesting in redneck people. They tend to drink and drink all the day. Gamble, gossip, and lazy people !!

Yes that is true. New England is very unpredicable weather. Last two weeks ago, we had 50 to 58 degree then last week was 10 degree. It causes the snow melting very fast to flood in the basement, roof and streets. At night, the roads become icy. My favorite seasons are spring and autumn.

California ROCKS.

You get your choice of: warm, sunny, dry SoCal, or moderate, temperate, and somewhat wet NorCal. If you go inland, it's more mountainous, then even more inland is even more dry.

But it's not all about the weather. You can choose to live in the bustling city or the podunk parts of NorCal like Redding or Eureka. Yes, California has their own kind of rednecks, but at least they're civilized rednecks, unlike those that I've met from the SouthEast.

But then again, it's not always about the people. What about the jobs? What about the recreation? California beats out every other state, in my opinion, not simply because "everyone goes to CA for Hollywood and Disney" but because there's everything else under the sun there.

poor people are everywhere. I bet Californians can't afford Mississippi's new houses.

But it is tooo expensive, the houses look like 1970s and their houses' prices
are too high... Taxes are high. Too many immigrants. And yuck my sinus was greenish color, because of pollution in air. Acid rain, ack!!!
Apartment rent is ridiculous. :P

Every State has unique and wonderful things. And there are good people all over. Myself, I love the South. There are no more alcoholics here than anywhere else. And some of the "rednecks" are the finest people on earth. Racial prejudice here is not what people from elsewhere think. Just as California is not one big disaster.

A misty sunrise in my hometown,
Rows of cotton 'bout knee high.
Mrs. Baker down the dirt road,
Still got clothes out on the line.
Irwin Nichols, there with Judsley,
Playin' Chequers at the gin.
When I dream about the Southland,
This is where it all begins.

From Carolina down to Georgia,
Smell the Jasmine and Magnolia.
Sleepy sweet home, Alabama,
Roll Tide Roll.
Muddy water, Mississippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me.
Carry on, carry on:
Sweet southern comfort, carry on.

Catchin' catfish on the river;
Chasin' fireflies by the creek.
Kissin' Gary Williams' sister,
On the porch, homecoming week.
With rusted cars and weepin' willows,
Keepin' watch out in the yard.
Just a snapshot of downhome Dixie,
Could be anywhere you are,

In Carolina or in Georgia,
Open arms are waitin' for you.
Louisiana, Yellow Rose of,
San Antone.
Arkansas, Mississippi,
Old man river whispers to me:
Carry on, carry on:
Sweet southern comfort, carry on.

As I sit here I'm surrounded,
By these priceless memories.
I don't have to think about it:
Theres no place I'd rather be.

Than Carolina or in Georgia,
Smell the Jasmine and Magnolia.
Sleepy sweet home, Alabama,
Roll Tide Roll.
Muddy water, Mississippi,
Blessed Graceland whispers to me.
Carry on, carry on:
Sweet southern comfort,
Carry on, carry on:
Sweet southern comfort, carry on.
