How small was your town?
Learning about other religions is one thing. Practicing them is something else. And why does that represent a threat to you? Why does it bother you that kids are learning about Islam? You do realize that the terrorist Muslims are a subtype of Wahabbi Muslims, (the ones who absolutly hate other Muslims) and a lot of the people they are killing are ALSO Muslim.

Do kids copy other religions' practices in school?
It looks like a nice quaint town. I don't know why they wouldn't teach about Native American history. I was living in a small New England town similar to that when my school taught us about that terrible history.http://www.marblehead.org/
I just saw your post tonight ,this link tell about my town . This doesn't tell how the Native American got smallpox !
No problem.Reba, please could you clarify or explain more about #41?
I don't understand about what are you saying so need more explanation.
No problem.
Today this promotion of Muslim practices and beliefs is happening only in a few schools. Maybe these schools don't affect you or your family. But as time goes by, maybe more schools will do the same thing. That could effect you.
Don't forget--today's high school students are our future voters and leaders. The things they learn in high school and college will influence their future decisions.
There's no need for new legislation. Because of the separation of religion and state there's not supposed to be promotion of any religion in public schools. That includes the Muslim religion.Do you think that legislators should ban on promotion of religion in public school? What is your solution about promotion of Muslim in public school?
They should learn the politic process and what each party supports but they shouldn't sway the students to follow any political party. When I was in high school, some teachers promoted the conservative agenda but I wasn't compelled to agree with them. I made my own decision about vote to elect the leader, not teachers or my parents. Many students started learn about politic in high school.
That's your prerogative.I dislike Islam as much as I dislike Evangelical Christianity - both of them are extremely socially conservative to me.

. . .
I learned a new word.
Ah, but people's religious beliefs (or non-beliefs) do influence their political beliefs and actions.but... if they don't influence their religion on politic so they will not be my problem since politic supposed to represent everyone, not just you or me only, however, our country went too further.

Wow, were you taught all of this in high school? My deaf school didn't teach anything like that at all. When I was in high school, we learned about the various world religions and their impact on world events. We were never taught to accept any of those religions or memorize any of their doctrinal statements.
In world history courses we covered Judaism, ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman beliefs, Christianity (Catholic and Protestant), Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, and Norse beliefs. In American history we covered Native spiritual beliefs, including Aztec and Mayan practices, and religions that were brought to America, such as with the Pilgrims and Quakers, and Southwestern Catholic missions.
It doesn't mention the name of the course. It mentioned that all students must take it.
