I've got a plantation that needs lookin' after. You're on the top of my list!

Ya'll need to take whatever ya'lls want . . . you deserve it.

Dang, you live...on a big farm?

I can understand being practical. In areas where you can use your inground swimming pool for 3 months, it is not pratical to me. The purpose must be vain.

In areas where a swimming pool is prevalent, I find that they can use it, only, for 3 months (out of 12). Not practical.

What gives?

Not to mention it's costly to maintain pool, and you waste water too. Also you have to have the pool fenced even at home.

In Australia due to water shortage, many owners with pool are getting rid of backyard swimming pools.

why are they getting rid of pools? Water shortage is a short-term problem. Why not just put a tarp over it for time being?

In New Orleans, they are able to use an inground swimming pool for, at least, 6 months - comfortably. Many owners seek to get rid of them after 4 months. They are a hassle and, with bars that, readily, provide a swimming atmosphere at discount prices, wish they'd not invested.

Want to swim? Go to a gym or, in the U.S., a local Y.M.C.A. Otherwise, it really does take a lot of maintenance that you'd not expect.

That's my 2 cents and I am not without experience.

Yeah you are right about that. We have inground pool in our backyard.

An inground pool takes A LOT of attention. While some may enjoy that, I did NOT. I would advise others against and I would recommend others to enjoy what is available before devoting daily personal time to something not daily.

Just wanted to be clear as to my intent. I'm glad you understood. I'm sorry you have one . . . hey, can I come over, sometime, soon? :laugh2:

We have drought effecting in Australia.... we have water restrictions :(

yea but is the water restriction long-term? If not - it's better just to put tarp over pool and wait till water restriction's out.

Unfortunately, it has been in drought since 2003, I think....or 2001, if I am wrong. I can't remember the last time I checked when the drought has began, there is no light in the end of the tunnel to end the drought.

Yep, its sad. But if people want to refill the pool, they have to ask for a exempt in writing from the goverment to have it refilled... they don't like it.
