What Ticks You Off (Most) About Hearies?

Indeed! Well said. And nice one about the "death" look you gave ha ha.

got a lecturer who gets shitty and says i should have a cochlear implant because i cant hear her properly urgh

Just smack her!:P Tell her she needs to learn how to do a powerpoint presentation because her verbal delivery is incomprehensible.

I never wanted a CI either, but I freely admit that it has been a huge benefit to me. I never encourage others to get a CI, I only share my experience and let others decide for themselves.

Funny, that. We have a member complaining that she never gets to hear from the CI users. I suggested that perhaps she just wasn't paying much attention to what they were saying. Looks like I may have been on target.:P

Don't shout at me. It only makes me irritated and you look like an idiot.:nono:

You know, some people tend to shout at people that speak other foreign languages, too. I find it hysterical that they think volume will overcome the problem.

I'm sure it helps many. I just do not like surgery of any kind and cannot imagine what it be like to have 'fixture' attached to skull. Maybe I do not understand how it work but, eek, cannot do it. Rather be visual only.

The latest was last night - a hearing bloke made a comment about how unnecessary to have a signing actor performed in a music video cos we "deaf people" don't listen to music. I, for one, do listen and enjoy music. So does half of my friends I know so it's necessary.

Video of the week: Ed Sheeran - if you want to see. It was very cool and refreshing to see.

One need only look up the youtube for the Glee episode of "Imagine" and read the comments directed toward the Deaf. I, uh, made comments, too. :laugh2:

It astounds me how hearies do not understand that music is just as important to us as them. No, I do not understand the singing but I *DO* understand the rythm and tempo and certain instruments. I feel them all.

Exactly. My fashion sense is heavily influnced by bands even though I can not make out most words of their songs.

That might partially be because many CI users still consider themselves Deaf. I know I do.

When they think they know more about deafness than deaf people.

When people take advantage of my deafness. Once my brother's teacher told me to report something to my mother, and when I told mom, my brother was like "she probably didn't hear properly, so dont believe everything that she said" and mom believe him too. I really dislike whenever my brother uses that of excuses. Not only this, he does that whenever he want to be excuse. That really pisses me off.

Pisses me off too. Especially when I caught them saying something they didn't think I would hear then they would turn around and say "oh, you didn't hear me properly" when I know I did.

I hate hearies in general who even tell me to get an HA when I don't want one right now, then they tell me it's my fault I can't hear.

I have to remind them that HAs are not a cure, but they do aid in helping you be more aware of your environmental surroundings such as hearing a car behind you or if you drop your keys or some one knocking on the door. It doesn't clarify sounds, it just amplifies it.

Well....when you become a Senior, more than likely you won't give a shyt about what the hearies say....:giggle:

I've done a lot of "cussing out" hearies....now I've somewhat "mellowed"...only in certain situations do I let the hearies "ruffle my feathers"....and God help them when they do....

Hmm.. New one for me I noticed. When they think music is as important to me as them, and that I care. I don't really have an interest and there are many things more suited to me than music.

I do like Sean Forbes, and I notice they don't quite understand that music.

Really good post!! :) I'm glad I can hear some b/c I am more aware of my environment surroundings, so true. I know!
