What is Your Pet Peeve?

I have alot of pet peeves:

1) When people judge me too quickly-It bothers me alot but i say: "F**k them"
2) When my computer gets messed up-My dad plays around with the computer and gets messed up with those stupid softwares he've been downloading.
3) When people whose trying to talk to me say "Nevermind" ALOT
4) When my HA and CI are off in case of my hair being wet from the shower or from the pool, I ask him to sign and he keeps forgetting that I can't hear
5) My annoying sister
6) Having to wear the stupid FM system--I HATE wearing FM systems. My parents put a note my IEP saying that i don't have to wear the FM system If I didn't want to. But my interpreter threatened me by telling my parents that I am not wearing my FM system and that I should be wearing it by email or calling them. So I have to wear the dang thing everyday. I just hate wearing the FM system. Bugs me alot.
7) Not being able to watch a video in class that does not have CCs
8) My annoying sister.

i also can't stand it when people touch me or grab me without warning.

now that i have ci's, something else that gets on my nerves are people who shout in my ear.

Yeah, Happens to me too sometimes. Like I told my friends that if they can't get ahold of me to get their attention, they can Bam on the table or wave their hand in front of me the way how my deaf community does that. Maybe yours does too.

Oh another pet peeve from me::

When I can't understand my dad, and I go: "Huh?" He MOCKS me by saying: "Huh? Huh? What??" And that HURTS. I don't know why he does that. He does that ALL the time if i can't understand him and when i'm getting on his nerves to say "huh?" And then he would hurt me by talking in a really annoying voice Very, Very Slow. Like: "Can.......YOU..........GET............THE.............PAPERRRRRRRRRRRR??????????"

How Rude!!

Another one of mine is when a person says. "you know?" in every other word. Ya know?

Same here. That's a good approach though because people that just judge you too quickly and harshly don't deserve your concern anyway.

I rather not leave an impression nor confirm the deaf stereotype for them so I correct them. but then again.... some people can be just a real jerk.

...or "like." (for example,"she said this to me and i was like 'whatever' then she was like..." or "like, that's awesome!") it drives me NUTS when i hear that.

by the way, i also hate people who use "ah" after every other word. it makes it extremely difficult and distracting to listen to them. i had a professor who used to do this and it irritated me so much that i transferred to another class.

how about the word "um?" that also gets on my nerves.

Blowning noses at dinner table.
Idea and Ideal...please know the difference
tooken IS NOT A WORD! You either TOOK it, or You have TAKEN it. Tooken it is not proper english.

i HATE that when people do those kinds of things like your father did. it's not like we're asking them to repeat just for the fun of it.

whenever a hearie does that to me, i respond in the same fashion which is when they realize how insensitive they're being.

Blowning noses at dinner table.

oh, i absolutely cannot STAND this. one of my ex-boyfriends used to do this ALL THE TIME. i would always ask him to please leave the table before blowing his nose, but he never did. it was enough to completely ruin my appetite. <mad>

An example (as a blind person) is I have had many situations where servers at restaurants refer to me in the third person. They ask my friend what "he wants to eat".

that kind of thing happens to me as well.

Oh no kidding ...

Did you know you're lollipops were made over their? In Hershey, Pennsylvania? They're lollipops are blue, green, purple, and brown and your gonna get sick if you eat them. Than you'll be sick in bed the rest of the day.

Of course ... that would be better translated as:

I never did understand the difficulty in that ... :)

Finally! A pet peeve I can strongly support! I am driven almost insane by errors of that nature!:mad2:

I rather not leave an impression nor confirm the deaf stereotype for them so I correct them. but then again.... some people can be just a real jerk.

The fact that every action we take we have think about what image we are giving to deaf or blind or whatever minority group we belong to. To quote my friend (who said it in regards to race) "when a white person has an opinion, it's that individual's opinion, when a black person has an opinion, it's the black people's opinion."

Another pet peeves is people that judge others based on the dialect they speak. Just because someone speaks differently doesn't mean they are more intelligent, less intelligent, more hospitable, less hospitable, etc. I tend to go back and forth between dialects that I use and it just saddens me to notice how people treat me differently because of the way I'm talking.

i'm guilty of doing this. my parents raised me to have excellent oratory skills and my 7th grade english teacher was *very* strict when it came to writing, so i guess this is ingrained in me.

if truth be told, it bothers me that i can't even use correct capitalization because of my inability to use the shift key (due to my severe cts).

It's ingrained in a lot of people. Many parents teach their children how to speak "properly." I don't hold it against you but I do think it's sad that so many people are ingrained with opinions about the way people talk. I see it as another form of discrimination. <sad>

Thanks for being so honest, Hear Again. <smile> That's one of the reasons you make such a great friend!
