I am AB- and do not cross match with any other type. Only 1/10 of 1% of the world population is AB-.

Then you are a rara avis (latin for rare bird)!

I have discussed this with my doctor. I cannot take any other blood in a transfusion other than AB-. I will create antibodies to other blood types, and my body will treat the different blood type as a foreign invader and try to destroy it.

You sure you didn't confused receiving with donating? I looked it up and according to this link: What's Your Blood Type? - it says you can get blood from someone that has no antigens (Ex. O-, A-, B-, AB-) but you can't donate yours to anybody but ones with AB-.

I am sure that doctors will give you AB- when they already know your type so to save the universal O- for emergencies on persons that they don't know the type.

mine is AB+. Rare, I know...

Funny thing...
Yes it's very very extreme RARE BLOOD TYPE AB+

When I have 3 kids.. plus 1 baby is on way..

1st son's RH O+
2nd daughter's RH O+
3rd son's RH AB+ ((SUDDENDLY SHOCKED WE WERE SURPRISED MY BABY IS DIFFERENT BLOOD TYPE??? HOW HE GOT END UP?)) Doctor explained us.. coming from gene who have A OR B positive blood type... Likey eh... When My hubby's parent came and heard Doctor's word.. They were laughed so hard.. and telling truth.. I'm very shock and surprised... *wide jaw bone opened*
My hubby's mom is RH B positive blood type, his dad's RH A positive.. That how gotten into my son's blood stream by jumping genes..

DR say yes your son is very luckily rare blood type because no worries about the sick or else because itself fighting by antibodies and easily heal within a day or couple days.. that is it.. Ugh.. how's lucky my son?

Me.. me.. ugh rare blood type RH O- no fun for me being requires immutable shot for prevent giving each together fighting blood type..
My hubby's RH O+

Weird aren't we? *laughing*~:giggle:

I'm O-.

The sad thing is, I will have to wait longer than most patients since I require O-... nothing else. That includes organ transplants as well.

O- is the only blood type that can be given to anyone.

*woot* I've found you... in case emergency what If i need blood.. I gonna sucking your drawn blood out.. cuz you're dracula.. sorry Now I gonna become into vampire alike you...

HA HA
:giggle:

 Mine is B+ too. I am not sure, if it is rare type. I will let the ADers answer that for us. :D
Oh cool!
We are B+ buddies! lol!
Well, the Red Cross people in Tulsa, Okla says its hard to
find this type of blood...so i guess its kind of rare, i guess.
Yeah, we can let ADers check this one out for us, hehe..

As I can see, there isn't much ADers who have the same kind of blood type as ours here.... I guess, it is rare. :giggle:

Yes, I'm sure. O- is considered to be "the universal donor" because they can donate to anyone except AB-. I can't donate blood because I don't weigh enough!:giggle: But they are always asking for AB- donors because of the need to transfuse AB- with only AB-.

I think I got tree sap type blood. ;) I asked my mom if she knew my blood type, she said she doesn't know...even my mom doesn't know her blood type, either.

You should know just in case of emergency. Ask your doctor. :)

*nodding* in agreement .. that is right.. very important as they cant afford to miss minutes to give the victim tranfusion so gotta know right there! so seq boy= u better go and find out soon! :D

mine is O RH +

i remmy when i was preggy.. they asked me i said what r u talking about? she looked at chart and said never mind u are O RH + not - so not need a shot.. i didnt undy then till later i found out for who have RH - will need shot.. i was like OHHH....

my dad have O RH +

my mom have O RH -

lucky i come out ok?? my sister come out ok but she have white hairs on back of her head?
It's only a problem for the children after the first RH+ child. if a mother is RH-, and has a RH+ child, the mother's immune system will create antibodies for the RH particle, and attack the next time it's present.

and other sister is ok too?? strange... my son tj is ab.. he got it from his father weird...
I believe you are mistaken, your children can only have A, B or O they can never have AB if you are O. O is recessive and you need to have the gene for it on both chromosomes, (A and B are co-dominant,) If you have type O You can only pass on the gene for O.

need to fix the polls again..

some people have O- or O + and not RH? need to fix that.. ok..

Rh is rare from what i was told...

The polls are fine, the + or - refers to the presence of the RH protein, if positive it's there, if negative, it's not there, it's separate from A, B and O. but when listing blood types the letters "RH" are usually dropped. "A+" and A RH+" are the same thing.
