What Induces Fear?

the "chucky" movies never scared me. i thought the whole premise of the movie was ridiculous.

thanks god for that! it's the sight of Chucky and things he did that freaked me out but I was young at that time.

since we call ourselves that, no, i wouldn't be offended. be my guest -- although i have no idea how typeingtornado or nika would feel about it.

I personally shy away from words like "deafies," "hearies," "blindies," and "sighties." I prefer to say a Deaf person, HoH person, Blind person etc. because I like to emphasize that we are people who are blind or deaf, etc. but that blindness or deafness, etc. isn't all there is to us. There is a lot more to us that goes beyond our deafness/blindness/deafblindness, etc.

However if you want to use them I don't mind. I just like to indicate in my personal usage that I see us as people who are XYZ.

I think having expectations induces fear. When we are attached to an idea or to the outcome of any situation, of course, we put a piece of ourselves in that - and to think of losing ourselves when things don't go our way is scary indeed.

So if some of us are so heavily invested in an eternal upotia in the afterlife, of course, lost spooks would scare the crap out of us. They remind us of what we could lose or become. Who the hell knows?

I get very nervous around spiders and really incredible heights.... if you were wondering.

Same here... I actually laughed at those cute little dolls! ;)

The same goes for Stephen King's IT. I thought those were good too.

one of my best friends who has 20/200 vision used to be called that in elementary school all the time. <frustrated>

I used to be called that all the time, too. I was also called taupe--French for those underground moles that are blind.

I also used to wear bifocals, until I got switched to separate distance and reading glasses since they couldn't fit the power of the lenses into a bifocal.

when was this, nika? the reason i ask is because they now have bifocals that can accommodate both types of lenses.

that's awful! i'm sorry about that, nika. <hugs>

i've been called mr. magoo (after the cartoon character) before by some kids in elementary school. i always used to refute them by asking, "how can i be mr. magoo when i'm female instead of male?" that shut them up pretty quick. <laugh>
