What did you learn today?

All I care is that the husband gets support from us and doesn't feel so ashamed nor alone. How do we show that? " I am sorry" doesn't seem enough. Also by pretending, we are clueless when it is all over the news is lame. Any ideas?

You could ask if he would like to come over for dinner or just let him know if he want someone to talk to you're there for him. I think I would not bring up his wife unless he does first . If you know his email address you could send him short email asking if he need anything to let you know. My ex sister in law got took on drugs when she took diets pills she got from a doctor in the 60's. And she drove my poor mom crazy calling her at all hours at night saying my mom had her dog .

I just learned our Comptroller died after a stroke. That means the Governor will need to select a replacement to serve until 2016. She will be greatly missed.

That Maggianio's Little Italy has some seriously good food. Yummy (and a full and happy stomach :P)

I learned that marijuana can be toxic for dogs.

Marijuana intoxication and your pets

Only if they get an overdose. Following quote from your link.

The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association is an organization that is encouraging further research into the possible beneficial effects of medical marijuana in pets. They state that "there is a growing body of evidence that cannabis can reduce pain and nausea in chronically ill or suffering animals, often without the dulling effects of narcotics."

In some animal studies, there is also evidence that cannabidiol (CBD) in cannabis has anti-seizure potential. At this time, they caution veterinarians to follow state and local laws regarding cannabis.

That next Tuesday the 16th the elevator will be out of service from 9-11 AM. That's really bad timing.

Why is that bad timing? What happens at that time?

Because the 18th is another day the elevator is being serviced, and we can only use the freight elevator, and not only that, I may have plans for both days, but they haven't been confirmed yet. Also, my bikes need some repairs, thus, no elevator makes it inconvenient.

my apartment does not allow any dish set-up/installations for TV or internet... I was looking at dumping Charter's ass and switching my internet, and was considering switching to Direct TV or Dish. But no... well I can still try another internet provider that uses DSL. I'm sick of Charter's crappy internet, and calling them frequently to try to fix shit that does not help.

You made it seem like you had to use the elevator at that exact hour. Can't you take your bike on the freight elevator? What floor do you live on?

Not necessarily. I like to be able to use the the elevator, because the stairs are too narrow for both bikes. I live on the 3rd floor, and the freight elevator takes two to operate-- the door is very heavy, and can smash fingers very easily. Plus, it's operated nearly manually.

OK. I know some apartments don't allow bikes on passenger elevators so you are lucky.

As long as I ride the elevator with no one else in it, I'll be okay. Riding it with others in it is unwise, and unsafe, given how large they are, and how small the elevator is.

So, don't leave your fingers in the door.

I know. That's kinda why servicing the passenger elevator is inconvenient timing. Ah, well. They are correcting a violation, so I can't complain too much.

I learned that 75th Street is a major, major bottleneck for freight and Metra trains. They want to build a $1 BILLION flyover to realign tracks for the Southwest Service, and that line could also potentially have a new home at LaSalle Street Station, which would free up room for more Amtrak and Metra trains.

It'll be interesting to see how that goes. I've ridden the Southwest Service once before, and it DOES go through a bottleneck.
