What did you learn today? Part II

I learned how to sign boring, construction, confusion/mess, independent, bus, and the sign for our state's children's hospital.

I learned I have been signing 'about' wrong for, like forever, and really confusing my deaf friend.

I learned not to give red cough syrup to my disabled daughter when we are in the car and on our way to church.
I learned she does not like red cough syrup. She kept it in her mouth without swallowing until I wasn't looking and then spit it out so it was all over her dress. We live 40-45 miles from church, and were closer to church than home by then, so we went to Walmart and bought a sweatshirt for her to wear over her dress.

Tomorrow I will learn whether or not red cough syrup comes out in the wash.

I learned that my Aunt did not come to Florida for this Winter. She sold her condo.

My uncle was killed down here last year and that's why she can't handle it anymore. That and she feels she is too old to to be traveling back and forth. Uncle had Alzheimer's and the day they got here from Minnesota, he slipped out of the condo for a walk and was hit by a car 2 miles away. The lady who hit him, stopped and held him while calling 911. He died in her arms. She was not charged and she also came to speak to my Aunt the next day. He was 81. Aunt is now 82 and has decided to stay in Minnesota year round. One of my cousins and her hubby will be moving in with my Aunt.

That's so sad.....

Ask me in about 6 weeks what I learned yesterday (from my married daughter). Right now I have to keep it hush-hush. :)

Well that was a quick 6 weeks. :D
Daughter & SIL went to the doctor's and after everything checked out ok and they got a picture, SIL said he couldn't wait another day...to announce they're going to have a baby. I was able to get them to wait a couple of hours so my other daughter & I could go over to my sister's then have my D & SIL call to tell us the news.
My first grandchild is due in early August.

I learned I don't have much focus or willpower when it comes to staying on this diet I am supposed to be on, especially when it comes to home made mexican chicken.

I learned that we have a few wrinkles for the house, but as far as I know they are ones we can work through and do. Hubby has been talking with contractor for the last hour and I hope it's good news. It dark outside, so I can't be with them. (can't read the lips) Meeting yesterday at Town Hall showed we need to have a engineer come out and make sure the garage still falls in with current hurricane building codes, then, since MIL already filed the Quitclaim Deed, we can't do an "Owner build" construction and we will have to have a Licensed contractor handle all the paperwork from here on out. Well, that mean, I also found that our contractor isn't licensed yet. He has one more year to go. His Uncle is the General Contractor who is licensed and he works through him or something like that. Uncle speaks no English, so that's why our contractor tried to bypass him on this job. That's what hubby and contractor are talking about. So far, all we know is, that it's going to cost more than we thought and we have to see. Right now, we have $82,000 in one account and another $25,000 available in 6 months. Hopefully, we will not need more.

Okay - just learned yet more!! And..............it's good news!!!!

Contractor is licensed. He showed license to hubby. When he has to show his license, the permits cost more and that's why he was trying to go the other way. We will only have another $2500 or so in permit fees all told on top of what we would have had. Also, the engineer will be out tomorrow with the contractor and that will cost about $400-$500. Then contractor will take the papers and go to the Town Hall and speak with them and work to get the permit. Once he gets the okay, then I have to come down with the checkbook. All in all, we may get to start next week or the week after.

I knew we were heading for a drought year here in CA? I never thought it was this bad however. Normally Jan. is our wettest month. Normal rain fall 4.0" right now 0.7". No snow in the mountains the worst in 40 years. A comment was made on the news that "water" was more valuable than "money"!!!!

About he money, Is that even possible? :hmm:

Water is more valuable than money because it is life sustaining.

Money just pays the bills.

Water

Angle1989,
Are your area on water restriction? Just wondering.

That usually starts right before summer. They start with lawn wattering rules. Even addres number Mon.,Wed., Fri., and so on. Who knows maybe March will give us a month of rain. Happens sometims, hopefully. Lakes get used for farming so boat stays in storage.:-(

Ohh really.

We have it all year long for a few years. Although, it was only few months ago that we went from 3a Restriction to 3.

Even though we still get rain and such, but still have to follow the restriction.
