Good news, bad news.

The good news is, that thanks to advice from Sharky99, I finally made a better pizza crust on Saturday (after being disgruntled for years)!

The bad news is that I was too distracted on AD, and my pizza was a touch burnt. :(

OH that's great, Mbrek!! but ohh dang burnt crust.. tsk ya need to pay attention and be sure the pizza is cooking nicely.. I have to check to see my food cooking good and then be ready to get them out of the oven when the advertised time (whether it is on package box or via recipe somehow) is expiring fast.. so.. I do have the timer so I can determine how long and then get set to have everything out .. glad ya got a good pizza crust going now.. now ya know how, so no problem!

I would love a recipe for pizza crust. I am not fond of the packaged kind at the store. Then I can post "what did you do today?" saying I made pizza !! :D

The secret to baking anything in your oven is a stone on the bottom rack. I use a round pizza stone and never take it out.

Replace it with a pizza stone? They're relatively cheap. Big stones are expensive. You could use 2 pizza stones.

^^^So you don't actually bake on it, it just sits in the oven?

Yeah, reduces direct heat to the bottom of your food. Distributes it more evenly on top and bottom.

Didn't know that!!! I tried baking on it... was not impressed. I'll have to see if I still have it - I'll try it next Saturday with pizza!

Do you have a copy of the Joy of Cooking? The baking chapter is really good. I also have the King Arthur's Flour book and it's a great basic baking book. Picked up hints here and there over the years.

I had a pizza stone for a long time, then threw it out. I found I did not like using one. Hmm...

and for these who loves to bake... do yourselves a favor.. use organic flour. (Thats if you use general all purpose flour)

makes baking a lot easier....... A LOT.

The non-organics use bleaches or whatever to process it, and that makes the flour dry and difficult to work with.

sent off another Gameboy Advance game I sold on ebay, and bought some stamps while at the post office, so I can get to work on Christmas cards! Then worked. I'm heading to Walmart next, gotta get a new leash for my dog dammit.
