What are your views on cohabitating?

I assume it is pretty common to cohabit in Norway. It was fun to see options like married, single, or cohabited on some legal pieces of paper. I don't think it's a big deal, and it should not be a huge one in USA.

By calling children who are conceived out of wedlock as "bastards", you've clearly shown your ignorance.

And again, people who call children born out of wedlock "bastards", are bastards themselves.

I hate it when people do that too. It's so dark ages, and so ridiculous! Wake up!

I don't believe in shacking up or having kids when the parents aren't married to each other. Unfortunately, the children are bastards, since the parents are gutless to marry, hence they're called shackrats. Unfortunately, women are applauded for having children out of wedlock and no (biological) father is around.

Sure glad that at my age, I am still a virgin and waiting for the right woman. If she doesn't come along, as a Christian, then I accept that it's not God's will for me to marry or have children.

When you call a child born out of wedlock a bastard, you are unfairly labelling that child and hurting that child. It's no different than someone labelling a deaf person "deaf and dumb"; regardless of his or her intellience.

It's heartless and cruel.

Yet more proof that religions are full of hypocrites and people who judge.

Co-habitation is not a big deal in our society. It helps couples to gauge whether or not they are truly interested in staying together. There's less risk in it because you could be dating someone and living separately. If you decide to marry that person, there's more risk that you'll find things that you don't like about them because you've never actually lived with them.

And again, people who call children born out of wedlock "bastards", are bastards themselves.

Keep "saving yourself for the right person" because I doubt anyone's going to come along

IMO, these children do not deserve that kind of labeling--they did not ask to be born that way.

I've observed from experience such people (in the red above) are not necessarily good themselves. The ones who go to church every Sunday, go over porn late at night. Do dishonorable things. The ones I knew who keep saying they are such good people treated people badly. Of course, some people learn and be truly good BUT after a lot of damage has been done so in my eyes, usually are not worth it. Not to mention the ones who get messed up between the fear of God, the teachings of the Church and family beliefs.

That's my .o2 about people who "save themselves" and yadda yadda. Their wrongs are strictly between them and their God. I will worry about my own wrongs.

Gotta agree with u on that one based on my experiences too.

Be careful what you said. Your statement is so judgmental and ignorant. Look at me as a "bastard." Yes, my biological mom had an affair with a married man and got knocked up. She got pregnant with me and gave me away. I am a 37 year old gal who supports cohabiting because today's society does not give a fuck. Remember, it is not the 1950s anymore. Welcome to the 21st century.

I wish you good luck finding a "right" woman. I doubt that she will come to you at all. :eek3:

Brad--:gpost:

Oddball--you NOT a bastard. We know the meaning but you ain't one! I have a young dog that looks like yours:D

When you have a pre-disposition (or bias) against someone because of circumstnace, you discount the other's value as a human being. Why?

My strong Christian upbringing includes teachings that suggest what one should do and never suggest what one must force. We live by example and, by example, others understand. (A concept that is not, politically and most widespread, accepted.)

Calling another a "bastard" denotes a lower social status that assists one in feeling good about him/herself? Now, really, do you need to go to that level?

I have never witnessed a single mother being praised for having children. If it all, current United States laws and social circumstance have assured that it would be problematic.

It happens and, within the familial and friend circle, we can do nothing but provide love and support (i.e., make lemonade out of lemons). It may not be the most ideal circumstance and we try to make up for it. It happened and there is not use in obsessing over spilt milk.

We are good people, seeking to help one another within our community. The "us vs. them" mentality has only served to ostracize others and, sometimes, served to degrade ourselves in times of need; creating a community of resentment.

Within that view, you become the enemy of the community. Living by example has never been proven wrong and to love is never evil.

That's all I have to say about this.

Alert: OFF TOPIC

What s with your avatar showing "talking to hand"

Means I prefer to communicate using my hands (sign language) than oral communication (spoken English).

Be careful with what you said. Children are innocent angels and they dont deserve the recognition. Really they are God's blessings. I am one of those bastards you so name calling. Thank you. I now know you are such one of those ignorance people. whatever!

Did you know that the church wouldnt let out of wedlock children go to church. What happened to beliving in God and want to be saved? Those laws are hogwash. I believe everyone should be EQUAL! they should be able to go to church. *so whatever*

I am sorry but its a fact.

Who the hell do they think they are, judging children like that?

Again, proof that some religions can have hypocrites. Of course, no offense to the non-hypocrites on here. :)
