Wishing someone would wave a magic wand and find my next home for me. Apartment shopping is not fun. I've started contacting different complexes and will probably go visit a few this weekend,

Crossed three off my list after last weeks "visits". Added one to my list today. Now trying to decide between two.

One has just about everything I want, but I just noticed in a picture that the laundry closet takes up the wall where I would put my china cabinet. The model I saw today was for a one bedroom and those have their laundry closet elsewhere. The gal did say the closet would be in the dining area, but I thought the door would face the hall, not the dining area.
I'm waiting for replies back on some questions I have for this place.

The other one is the place we lived for a couple of years before moving to this house.

Hope to make a decision and apply for one of these two places this week. Maybe submit applications to both of them...

Good luck. The laundry facing the dining room- that's an odd configuration I've never seen. My first apartment in CO though the laundry room was off the kitchen and I think it doubled as a pantry too. The worst though was the third apartment- stacked w/d in the bathroom. Hated that set up... washer on floor, dryer installed above- and you couldn't open the washer lid all the way up lol.

I guess that was the only place available in the two bedrooms. I thought, when looking around while the gal was talking with someone, that the W/D might have been in a closet in the kitchen, but it's still a pantry.

Yeah, maybe I'll apply for both and see which one gets back to me first.

Dropped of the papers and checks for applying for an apartment. It says it can take up to 10 days to find out if I'm approved. Now to start packing up the house. Fun, fun....not.

Once approved will need to get in touch with a moving company - will probably use the same one we've used in the past. Need to find out how much to move just the furniture vs moving everything. Will probably save myself some $$ by packing everything myself and then will have to move the china/crystal myself as I know they will not move fragile stuff that they do not pack themselves.

Apartment is only about 3 miles from where I am now.

Looking forward to no more yard work (need to get out there and mow today) and now snow shoveling, though I've been blessed with neighbors who have helped with the snow.

You just reminded me of the time I moved from the upstairs in a house that had been divided into two units to one with an almost identical floor plan next door. I had hired guys from a local moving company to do just the really big stuff. They showed up with a tractor/trailer combination!!! They said the just jumped in what happened to be parked closest to the door at their place. Of course, they did not use the truck for my stuff at all.

That move also had me wishing I had a bridge between the two rather then take the stairs in each going from upstairs to upstairs.

They are stock cabinets where they are all exactly alike. I don't think anyone can tell which one came out of which unit. This is an 8 unit two story building in a town of maybe 20,000 if you count the three small communities that run together in such a way that you need to look at a sign to know where one ends and another begins. So probably much less "rules" then for a highrise in a metro area. The question of "allowed" never occurred to me or anyone that was involved in anyway. This was back in the 1980's but things have not really changed since. I did unexpectedly get a chance to buy a house about a year later so am no longer living there. The place is such that if I needed to be living in an apartment I would probably still be there.

I am thinking how annoying people can be. I am doing laundry and was needing to move clothes from washer to dryer. Each one was full but most was done. I checked the doors and they were hot so that tells me it was just done. I waited till someone comes by to take clothes out.

Someone does about 10 min later, what does she do?

She takes one clothe out at a time and folds them even tho I am standing by waiting to use dryer. I was so annoyed that after about 5 min, I asked why don't you take them all out so I can use it instead of making me wait?

I would love to have washer and dryer in unit but not willing to pay for it at the moment. Maybe in near future or possibly get place of my own eventually.

Usually this place is not bad since I wash at night but this time I put it off so it bit back.

It just amazes me how people are so selfish they don't even think of others anymore. Other thing is I prefer to grab them all and take it to my apartment and fold them. I don't get people preferring staying there folding them.

Oh well, part of life.

What did the person say when you asked them that ? We have to share the w/d in my building . They're in the basement so I set my timer to let me when the machines stopped and I bring everything upstairs to fold.
That was rude of the person to made you wait like that .

First time, she continued to do that. I asked 2nd time with me saying "why don't you take them all out so I can put my stuff in" and she finally took them all out and moved them to table.

She didn't say anything verbally but I can tell she didn't want to.

Yep, I was so aggravated at her for not even moving stuff over especially after I said something first time.

It was at my apartment and like I said, I usually use it when not many are using it but I put it off this weekend so had to deal with them being in use.
