Say what?

If you put a hand on the mattress, you could feel the metal, and that's not supposed to be happening. I never had any problems, until my ribs started to hurt really good. At first I didn't think anything of it, even after I was told they had ordered a new one, but the fact that I can feel metal pressing against my ribs before I fall asleep makes sense that there might be one that's fractured. I can do just enough, but what I CAN'T do is take a deep breath, a good indicator a bone is injured or fractured. My right side doesn't have that problem-- just my left.

it's just a bruised rib... or you may have swallowed a toothpick and it got lodged in your lung. uh oh.

Thinking I fractured one or more of my ribs recently. I'm pretty sure property management is thinking the same thing, as they express ordered a new mattress for me recently. I think they do not want one breaking.

?????

I'm a bit perplexed. How did you fracture your ribs? How does the mattress come in the picture? :hmm:

It's a bad mattress. You could feel the metal sticking up, and when I sleep, that puts pressure on my ribs without my knowing it.

I don't mess with toothpicks. Bruised? There aren't any bruises visible. Only thing I can think of is a stress fracture from sleeping on a mattress with metal pressing against the ribcage. Otherwise, dunno what's going on.

understandably, it can put a pressure when the mattress coil sticks up but is it that bad enough to fracture a rib? I dunno. I'm still scratching my head on this one, lol. Anyway, yeah, get a new mattress and hope all's well.

Yeah-- only one problem-- it doesn't HURT like a fracture. That's the part that perplexed me. I had a microfracture of my foot years ago, and that was quite painful, but this is nowhere near that painful. I suppose it's just stiff or something. No idea.

Do I know for certain that it's fractured? No, I don't, but given the fact that those same ribs were badly injured not that long ago, I wouldn't be surprised if they had SOMETHING going on. Last time I had to deal with that side of the ribcage, it was muscle damage I was dealing with, and in all honesty, I've suspected they never fully healed.

You're lucky the property management ordered a new mattress for you. That's good. May you sleep better when the new one comes in.

I should. I have a hunch they special ordered this one to be soft, and if it is, I'm never leaving it. Joking, of course-- I have a life to live.

Well, before I wasn't thinking about people that are crazy, stupid, or possibly stupid crazy but I am now.

I am thinking about getting back to my sewing for dogs business. Need to get my pup used to the sound of the sewing machine and get back to work.

Or bad spleen, or pancreas gone bad... :eek3:

Neither one. Ribs only. Gotta be that mattress. Once I get a new one in, this issue should be finished. And FYI-- bad pancreas and spleen require a trip to the ER, and I'm still home.

No external bruise, unlikely it's ribs.

Pancreas or spleen = no outside sign.

Not my problem if you die from not going to the ER. :P

One problem with that theory-- should've been dead 2 weeks ago if that was the case, so no, it's not. Definitely the ribs, and they WILL get better.
