Sewing machine

i still haved figured out out to work my sewing machine.

My brother in law gave us their sowing machine because they didn't use it. I can't even figure out how to put the bobbin (?) in. Yet I did pass my sewing class in 8th grade. Ha ha:angel:

Christmas trees

Haha! Get to try out our new, pre-lit LED tree this year! It won't take up as much room as our old tree did, either.

I have wanted to get a prelit Christmas tree for years. I'm always met with "Ba Hum Bug"(?) they really have made those fake trees look so good. Thought I had my hubby convinced since we have no little helpers this year but no. Real dead tree is what we will have.

Sallylou, that's great! Do you sew a lot? Sewing machines make me nervous, for some reason. I have memories of ruining fabric by putting it in ready to sew, and whoosh! Machine takes off, seam is far from straight, and item is ruined.

Maybe that's why I like the slower knitting and crocheting...

Anyway - what kind? What will you do with it? Have you experimented much yet?

Wirelessly posted (droid)

It's a refurbished Brothers Project Runway Ltd. Edition with 80 stitches. This means nothing to me but it got excellent reviews and only cost $100. I have absolutely no idea what to do with it. lol I'll spend the weekend trying to figure it out. With the internet, I can usually figure out how to make things.
My 1st project will be a colonial costume for my kid, which will include a vest and tie. Somehow, I have to make or buy a tricorner hat. Wish me luck in this adventure. lol Should be fun.

Just made my new business that I will start either later this month (if all goes well) or next month an LLC.

me either! I did mine in the 9th grade! They should invent sewing machines that don't require bobbins.

Well, it looks like I'll be alone for Christmas. My family and I can't afford my trip to CA for only 4 days.

Is there any other options for me? I can't just stay in my apartment and drink egg nog all by myself. Friends are all busy with their own family stuff. Maybe I'll pretend to be Jewish.

Where in CA were you wanting to go? I'm not looking forward to our large family get together. First time they're seeing me since I became deaf. It will be loud with all the talking and football games. My head just spins. Good luck!!

Grass Valley area. Born and raised in California.

That's what I like about being deaf. You don't have to listen to them ramble on and on! I like to seclude myself and just sit somewhere, read a good book or munch on yummies.

I think is good thing I not wish be mechanic. Today I try fix car door (latch broke, not close) and I almost slice finger off. So painful! So much blood.

I also have been born and raised in California. Never left. I live just outside of Sacramento in Rocklin. Nice place to raise a family. I'm still waiting to get that peace and quiet from being deaf. Right now it's still very loud. I actually have to put cotton balls in my ears because any loud noise causes severe pain. What a bummer. Hope you can find a way to have a nice Christmas. You can always talk to me. I'll be online I'm sure. Gets a little akward when their all talking!! Good luck.

OMG. Are you ok? Do you need stitches? If you have access to butterfly band aids they work very well. Good luck.

That's nice. Does this person know ASL? I need to learn and learn soon. Where do you live, if it's ok to ask? Do you know where in Rocklin your friend lives? I'm trying to find some support groups and ASL tutor. Hard ro find!!!

She knows very little ASL because she grew up extremely oral. She learned ABCs and few signs when she first met me in high school. Not sure if you'd want to hang out with her, but hey it's somebody. She still has the mindset that she's "better" just because she's oral, but maybe you can slap some sense into her for me. I currently live in New York, but I am from Grass Valley which is just up in the foothills.

Sacramento has actually a decent deaf community. Log In | Facebook to start you off.

And this one is in Rocklin. http://www.facebook.com/events/246239942105215/
