Its not the goverments job to take care of me
Im perfectly capable of taking care of myself & my family

The more you invite the goverment into your life the more they take over
If I wanted to live in a socialist country I would move to Canada

I don't see it as the government's job to take care of you. In fact, it should always be the opposite. What I think is that it is a right we should have since we are born because health shouldn't be a price.

One of the benefit that I think of Universal Health Care is that private companies won't have any power to raise prices or deny health care to save them money. Universal Health Care should be health care for all regardless of your status.

Isn't it more expensive to pay private health insurance along with co-pays and deductibles, premiums going up because of silly things such as fraud, malpractices, people not going for preventive care because they have no insurance than to pay taxes to the government to have Health Care for all?

What part of Winter Texan do you not get?
Their primary reason for coming to our area is to get away from the harsh winters that they come from. AND while they are here they see doctors & dentist. What is so difficult to understand about that? You think these older folks who are up in years dont go see a doctor while they are temporarily living here. PULEESE you are only kidding yourself.

I can see you just dont get it.

so lets just agree to disagree.

Thank you. You have just validated both mine, Banjo's, Leibling's and Byrdie's point. They are not coming just to receive medical and dental care, as you stated prior. They are coming for quite another reason, and receiving care for those conditions that happen to need care while they are there.

I wouldn't want to travel to another country for medical or dental care. Who wants the extra cost and hassle of traveling when you're not feeling good to begin with? Also, what if you need to go back for "repairs" or follow-up care? Nope. If I'm sick or recovering from surgery, I want a short trip home to my own bed for recuperation.

Also, if I'm traveling, the last thing I want to do is get medical treatment or dental work while I'm paying for a vacation. How much fun is that?

You got that right.

Just heard on tv that medical coverage is 50% higher in America than other countries. Makes me think if Universal Health Coverage would be too much for America to handle.

46 million Americans without health insurance. USA population 300 million.

Medical costs are also higher here than in other countries, in large part because of the number of uninsured that we have. The costs of health care rise to cover the costs of emergency and chronic care for the ones that aren't insured and can't pay the astronomical hospital and doctor bills. It really is a vicious circle, isn't it?

I think those link explains better because it's about their experience.

When you are denied health insurance
Sometimes even healthy people can't get a company to sell them a policy

When you are denied health insurance - Health care - MSNBC.com

It's long 2 pages but it's worth to read.

Ain't reading all of this big thread, don't have time, but I voted "Don't know" because I don't like to see the governments trying to force people to have or do something. It's too communist to me. I have the medicare from the government and don't have problem with it because I can reject it anytime I want. I would love to be proud having my own insurance instead having the government's pig taxes that take alot of my money away.

Interesting to read Obama's experience about his mother.
HEALTHCARE
Obama: For my mother to die of cancer at the age of 53 and have to spend the last months of her life in the hospital room arguing with insurance companies because they're saying that this may be a pre-existing condition and they don't have to pay her treatment, there's something fundamentally wrong about that.

McCain's stupid response...

McCain: If you're a small business person and you don't insure your employees [for healthcare], Senator Obama will fine you. Will fine you. That's remarkable. If you're a parent and you're struggling to get health insurance for your children, Senator Obama will fine you.

BBC NEWS | Americas | In quotes: McCain v Obama rematch

To focus on have insurance for LOW-INCOME, they cannot afford it and get penalty for not have insurance isn't nice. It shedder more on their life.

The bad or cheap insurance doesn't provide great but sucker. :-/ There still need to change system on insurance service.

BCC bash on McCain more than Obama? It's not healthy.

No, World BBC and MSNBC are neutral on both sides. Do you read "Factcheck" on link, I posted?

I assume that you read FOX news, don't you? If not, then tell me which newspaper you prefer to read ?

I believe there should be universal healthcare for sure. However, I have lived both in Canada and in the U.S. (maryland) and I find that even thought you do pay alot more vs us (i live in ottawa, on canda now) your wait times and hospitals are overall alot better than ours. For example, I do cheerleading and gymnastics...whenever I got hurt, which was often enough, or had to go to the hospital for anything, I never waited more than 20 minutes EVER to get into a room. Here in Canada, our wait times to get out of the waiting room and into a room are ridiculous! I once waited 6 hrs to get into a room and I'm asthmatic and was misdiagnosed with pneumonia. It was ridiculous...i think the least amount of time I've waited in an ER waiting room in Canada was at least an an hour. I won't even begin to talk about wait times for MRI, CT's, etc.

I live in the U.S. and I have had to wait 4-6 or more hours to get into an exam room in the ER.
