Tropical storm Irene approaches

I'm concerned about some classmates from MSSD who live in the FL area so I've been checking FB for updates.

VP'd my old classmate in N.C....she's not in good health and alone, so will leave her home in the AM to stay with a friend...I told her to take down all her heavy mirrors on the walls and lay them flat or put them under her beds....and also to fill the bathtubs with water before she leaves.....My sisters will stick it out...just tieing down things in their yards and bringing plants into their house....They all live very close to the Beaches, so I'm guessing they will get a lot of rain and wind and flooding...

Lets keep all our East coast members in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you. I am really worried since the eye is projected to pass over Ocean City, MD and that's only 200 miles away. Meaning the stronger bands could hit us here in Baltimore. I live like 5 mins from the Bay so flooding is possible. We got our emergency kit updated and ready.

There was a big aftershock last night or you could say EARLY this morning around 1AM that jolted many of us awake. I was jolted in my sleep and woke up thinking that it was my dog plopping down hard on the floor. Then, I read that it was an aftershock. Geez!

Hey Shel! I'm actually in Baltimore Airport right now waiting for my second flight. (Huntsville to Baltimore to Fort lauderdale, FL... Don't ask). Can you see me waving??? :)

My house is literally 5 miles from BWI...yep, I see you! Very very very tiny!!!! Hi Daredevel!!!!!

What next, huh?

I know...I survived a haboob Thursday night in Phx, Sat..my flight back to MD was delayed for 5 hours due to a mechanical failure...Sunday, my area had a small tornado but was hit by a monster T-storm, Monday...nothing (just first day back at work), Tuesday, earthquake, Wed ..major drama with my ex hubby and daughter that left me unable to sleep well, today...aftershock....

tmw...Sat...Sunday?

GEEZ what a FREAKING "welcome back to MD" this week has been!!!!!

That is a LOT!

It was a beautiful day here on the OBX today. We took a nice walk on the beach late this afternoon, and ran into the same couple (with their beautiful golden retriever) that we met just before Hurricane Earl, a couple (or three?) years ago. They live the next subdivision over from us.

And they are staying, despite the mandatory evacuation order. Hmmm....

We are leaving first thing tomorrow. Bracing ourselves for what could be very bad traffic going up 95. And then we'll find out if the earthquake knocked anything off our walls or shelves in the VA house. Fingers crossed... Our neighbor in VA told us it knocked pictures off her wall and broke a few small things.

Uh oh.
Looks like it will be a bad one all along the eastern coast.

I have not heard anything about Plum Island, Ma. on the news . We're having a thunder storm right now! I heard it and I am not wearing my HA! I live on the east cost!

There was a series of severe thunderstorms passing through the Mid-Atlantic states this evening...all totally unrelated to the hurricane. Just a cold front coming through, that's all. Souther MD just had a tornado warning this evening from this line of t-storms.

Looks like when it makes landfall, it will be reduced to a tropical storm.....40-70 mph
