And I see that the criteria is more strenounous then it is for toddlers. Still, we live in the US which is the land of for profit healthcare. Meaning those crietria can still be played around with. I know for example, that the US is seen as rather libral in it's implantation crietria.
That's why DRphil occasionally brings up the fact that 60% of those candidates are ultimately rejected for implantation by his CI clinic in Canada.
First of all, like PFH being so EVER nice to ME ???
Second of all, like some people are being nice to me?
oh please, do you seriously expect me to be all smiles just because you are Deaf so you are always right
and no amount of correction on my part gets thru to you,
while I am not ever right nor believed because I am not Deaf!!
yet I'll must be nice to you while you can be an a$$ to me, sure.
If you do, you should have your head examined.
Sweetie, if people want me to be nice to them, THEY need to be nice to me in the first place.
YOU, Alley Cat, for example do you ever THINK when you write your annoying comments to me?
Anyhoo, I am done with this bickering.
Anyone who'd wish to discuss,
please, by all means - I am however withdrawing if this is not on the subject.
Fuzzy
Please, don't think Canada healthcare is so great.
Canada health care is government funded.
OF COURSE 60% is rejected since the dicks are going to pay for it.
Fuzzy
See ^^ this is the kind of language........ is what I was referring to.
PS: I never said I was nice to you. If one is being a dick to me, I have no problems being the bigger dick. I like it, rather.
who is insult to somebody harassment!? 0_o inappropriate language because off topic on words!
we are serious on forum on cocern! I aware it debate!
Just diaherra of the hands from a certain poster that refuses to do any introspecting.
This is off topic.
Further warnings about comparing US health care to Canada health care-
I know Michael Moore in his movie "Sicko" portrayed Canada's h-s as one
of the best, but this far from reality. I am Canadian. I live in BC.
I dislike Canada health care system. It has many shortages.
The reality is, unless you can afford additional private health insurance thru groups like Blue Cross and the likes, or you are rich
and can pay for private medical services whenever available,
and NOT every Canadian province has these widely available,
you are left with medical service that SUCKS.
Long waiting list to get to the specialist you need, MRI you need (you may wait up to one year to get one), scans, the drs think they are Gods,
they refuse you tests you think you need or want for the peace of your mind,
they can ever refuse to sent you to the specialist you want.
If you think you can simply change your family doctor - don't be so fast Jose, as at least in BC there is chronic shortage of family physicians
and you simply wont get accepted as a new patient, so - good luck with that, so be happy you have ANY family physician, even if he or she suck.
The walk-in clinic - where you don't need an appomnt and where the drs change frequently - if they reached their number of patients for the day that is allowed by government - then they won't admit you even if it is only 2PM and they are open until 6PM. so buh-bye!
The ER daytime wait is at least 5-6 hr on average, usually longer
and many times they just do a basic blood test, a doctor see you quickly and sends you on your merry way.
Unless you are truly dying there, no one is in hurry to do any xray, usg
as for mri or ct scan you can forget these- no one is going to waste precious
$$ on you.
My daughter went to ER once with severe abdominal spasms, pain, vomiting, fainting,
not even Tramadol with muscle relaxant was helping any.
We went to ER and she wasn't even given a Tylenol for pain - NOTHIG was given to her to ease her pain.
She wasn't even given a blood test, not a single scan, not even measly USG to see what's going on inside her.
She wasted all night in severe pain doubled over in the chair in the ER waiting room to be send back home with NOTHING
NOTHING
not even a fricken gastro-enterologist referral. The dr talked to her, decided it's not life threatening, decided it's some IBS and sent her home.
A total waste of time.
That's Canadian health care for you.
So, don't compare this to US care,
and don't think that this sign of positive because we send back 60%
of CI candidates.
On the contrary, I'll bet at least 40-50% of these deserved to be implanted but this rampant policy of money saving at every nook, turn and cranny
forces drs to find ways to refuse patients what's rightfully theirs by constitution.
You should be happy that Obamacare was opposed or you would be in same $hit.
There always should be choice of private, insured and government assisted medical health system not just the one last one.
Fuzzy
Can you tell me why your posts demonstrate otherwise?
Just diaherra of the hands from a certain poster that refuses to do any introspecting.
Back off of Travis. How dare you criticize his English!
His English might be not as perfect as yours
but his message is far better and purer than YOURS will EVER be.
Fuzzy
I am fine on my English totally!Back off of Travis. How dare you criticize his English!
His English might be not as perfect as yours
but his message is far better and purer than YOURS will EVER be.
look like personal and attack on offense! simply
Fuzzy
hmm I am break on time!I was talking to Travis, not about Travis......
Remedial reading might help you out here....
That was my question. None of those statements demonstrate a lack of audism in thought and/or belief.
Particularly where there is no lack of audism?,
when I say how deaf children should never be denied an access to ASL since birth, or when the implanted children should never be denied an access to ASL
as equally as to speech?
Or, perhaps I do that when I say that sound is valuable? while maintaining that all along with sound,
there must be free access to ASL and Deaf Culture and Deaf community
at any age?
Or perhaps you can not grasp the idea that I can chose both Deaf and sound + speech, not only Deaf because I believe in widening horizons
as much as possible.
Only unless achieving the sound was absolutely impossible I would have no problem dropping this issue.
What's eating you? some deep, personal regret, deeply supressed, eh, Jillio?
Fuzzy
Nothing eating me, but obviously something is eating you judging from the nature of your response. I am not responsible for your limited understanding of audism.
Why would you assume that I cannot grasp deaf and sound and speech, or even Deaf and sound and speech? Where did you come up with such a conclusion?
You are making no sense, Fuzzy, but you are indicating some presence of some issues and deep personal dissatisfaction that you probably should attend to. That nastiness is not inherent in deafness...you don't have to live with it the way you do
So, do you have anything relevant to say, or not?
Fuzzy
a question. If someone values sound over deafness as a way to open more doors for a person, is that audist in a way?
What I had to say was very relevant. It was relevant to the concept of audism and the ways in which covert audism affect us all.
