here's 3 clues:

1) 1941

2) ambuse attack

December 7, the Japanese air attack on Pearl Harbor? The day that FDR said would live in infamy?

The ambush clue kind of threw me, but the other historical events took place the year I was born. My father was in the navy stationed in the Hawaiian Islands not far from Pearl Harbor. The event hastened the U.S. into WWII.

New clues of another historical event:

1. This hastened the entrance of the U.S. into World War I.

2. 128 U.S. citizens died in an attack which killed 1198.

3. Das Boot U-20.

Sure an' yer not meanin' the Blarney Stone, are ye?

Hmmmm. Then is it Blarney Castle, in which the Blarney Stone is set?

Thank you. For TV mystery addicts:

1. Natalie took over for Sherona.

2. Comic Lieutenant Disher

3. Compulsive-obsessive detection.

You're so right, Ms. Bott. Mr. Monk is on the USA channel tonight. It's so zany that it's my favorite show.

It's your turn!

You know I will be glued to the television at 8pm. It can be watched online at usa network.com. Not sure if cc since I haven't tried to watch it.

1. High school dropout

2. Inventor

3. Started a big business in 1880

Terrific clues. Edison fits the time period, but Thom not only graduated high school but went to Harvard.

Let's see, Eli Thomson was the most prolific inventers of the late-1800s and early 1900s, granted about 700 U.S. patents. Don't know if he finished high school, but I'll guess Ol' Eli.

Care to take another wild guess? He is really famous for one particular industry.

Are you implying, ever so gently, that I'm wrong?????

Okay, another wild guess would be George Eastman, the Kodak guy. I think George left high school to help support his family.
