Yes I do work for the Feds..lol sounds funny when I say that..:P Unfortunately, my boss tells me that because I do not hold a specialized position, my job isn't transferable. In other words, I'll have to find another job.

That's the same for my hubby working for the "Feds" He got a new job and started yesterday but he had to apply for it. He couldnt transfer like he preferred to.

Kristina, it's so sad that your MIL never had a stocking. She's lucky to have you. It's special that you make sure that she has one.

We went to 5 Below for stocking stuffers since the Dollar Tree didnt have as many options. Do you have a 5 below. I also went to the thrift stores looking for some toys in good condition for my son.

Gotta do what we gotta do with shitty finances. All I just keep reminding myself that I still have a job at least.

I don't know anything about a store called 5 Below. The store I went to was a Deals $5 or less. Kind of the same thing I guess. Since we all like puzzle books of some kind and daughter really likes to color, I got a bunch of them for a dollar each. It seems mother, MIL and daughter wewre all out of emery boards for their nails, so I bought a big jumbo pack and divided it up. Hubby got the set that was black in color for automotive work. :giggle: My kids also seem to go through a bunch of ear phones or ear buds so I got them the cheap ones for now. No sense spending the $20 for a set that end up falling apart after 6 weeks. Got all of the chocolate coins, chocolate Santa's and stuff like that as well. Even bought me a set of LED flashlights for $5. Came out with 7 bags full of stuff all for $45.

Since we moved, hubby makes less than half of what he did in Missouri for the same number of hours, and then we have my disability check. That's it. It will be a small Christmas, but at least we are all together and everyone is healthy and for the most part, happy. We got the kids the things they really wanted (within reason) (no pony, dog, cat, car, shot-gun or dirt-bike). MIL bought the big ticket items.

Nice of your MIL to buy the big ticket items.

This is the 2nd year that my pay was furlouged..the first year, it didnt seem to impact me but now, it is finally having a big impact on my finances. Nobody can survive on salaries going down and bills going up each year.

I am going to do a cross stitch one for her that has Santa's, angels, and snowmen looking over the Nativity scene that will have her name on it. My daughter and son have both said that if they either of them has a little girl, they will give their girl the same name so the stocking will be passed on due to MIL's age. At least her name is a popular one. Barbara. Daughter has a different spelling that no one can remember, Rebekah.

I feel that everyone could benefit from a Christmas stocking since so much could be put into one. It was a way for my parents to make sure my brothers and I were quiet on Christmas morning so that my father could do the "3 S's" before we opened gifts. The SH*T, Shower and Shave. :giggle:

At least you are all together and the kiddos know you love and cherish them.

MIL has the bucks. I know for a fact that she has in savings at least a few 7 digits in various accounts. She didn't get hit real hard with the recession, not sure how, but she still has most of it.

 I wish I had savings with 7 digits!!! Damn!

Most rich people are stringy and cheap, heh. Why you think the government taxes them so heavily? They won't spend the money, but keep on pocketing.

they do not tax heavily on people with big fat saving account.... just the one with many zeros in their income. If it's in investment accounts like retirement fund, it's tax-deductible.

Its Christmas eve down here, everybody :D

Merry Christmas guys.
Have a beer, enjoy the holidays.
