Any snow plows clearing the roads?

Chances are likely that the plows can't go up to her home due to the hills of Portland

I live on a 1,000 feet high elevation - no one will take me back home! My parents are down in Aurora and they are not able to get me as I am staying with a friend and her family in Hillsboro. My car is buried under snow and the roads are not plowed. My other family members live around in West Hills so they are not able to get out either.

I am fortunate that my friend and her family are putting up with me but golly I would love to be back home and be in my own bed! I know that there are people way worse off than me such as these trapped at the airports, train stations or Greyhound terminals.

I just hope that this will let up so at least I can get to be with everyone for Christmas!

Nope - they sprinkle gravel on certain roads but there is no monies to plow or sprinkle gravel on every road. They are saying that this is the worst storm since 1950 - it will continue snow/sleet until Thursday so the snow and ice will not melt away for a very long time :(

Yes I live on one of the highest elevations in the city - also one of hardest hit areas in the city - what a bummer!

At least you got snow plows. We had to dig ourselves out!

BTW--Clamming weekend is coming up! January 9th, 10th & 11th.

Leak is not in the windows. There are blisters of water forming in the paint above and nowhere near the windows.

Sounds like water is falling down in between walls above your window. Can you check under roof where that window is? Maybe you can see if water is going through roof or being directed to where it can fall down into between the walls above window.

Not for Portland it isn't because Porltand is in the valley.

I am only 2 1/2 hours away, west, from Gemma and we are down to an inch and it's mostly slush.

No wonder why my friend, in Portland, kept talking about the gym being closed and how she is running in the snow because she couldnt get anywhere on her Facebook status.

I talked to a friend of mine in Portland and he has a foot of snow. So....Portlanders are stranded for the most part.

Maybe we should all chip in for Gemma to get her a snowmobile so she can get around?

LOL! That would be our Christmas gift to her so she can be home for the holidays. Seriously, I wish I can help but I am glad she is in a safe and warm place.

Gemma, you're not alone....we have the same issue too. We have one of the worst snowstorm that dumped abt average of 8-12" of snow on the ground in Puget Sound metro area. There's lot of snow/ice on some busy roads and it's a pretty big mess at my work, too. There's isolated spots of at least 2-3 ft of snow outside the metro area.

Please don't tell me this as I am going to be driving up there!

I also heard that Seattle is going to get hit with another snowstorm. I think this is going to be a repeat of 1986.

What happened in 1986?

Every month from December to February--Seattle got dumped by a major snowstorm and the schools didn't get out until the day before 4 th of July.
