Tax on tanning is racist

The tan tax is essentially based on skin color, those who can tan. Had there been a tax aim at people of darker color I'm sure people would be using the word "Raaacccist!" No?

Can't have one without the other, dude.

I got news for you, whitey. I know plenty of black people who intentionally tan. :cool2:

This whole concept is nothing but a bunch of bull crap.

I think it's a coincidence not thoroughly thought out. Looks like an extension of sin taxes.

the only post in this thread that makes sense.

I don't know but.... doesn't tanning bed emit a very concentrated form of sunlight?

Indeed it does.

Beaches vary! Depending on the UV index. Even then it is not as concentrated as a tanning bed.

I am a white person who loves to tan and I dont see this as a racist act towards me.

I rather to see people that are doing unhealthy activities get taxed for it.

It would make the healthcare tax lower to charge the sin taxes on the ones ones that practice unhealthy activities.

I am for it.... Since I rather to see them contribute more for there actions.

People are aware of the risk. Since they want to take it. Let them pay extra!

Kokonut... Would you rather not have the sin taxes?? And rather it be more expensive to the ones that does not practice unhealthy activies?? Without the sin taxes, it would be spread out to everyone!! Regardless of being a non smoker, drinker, tanning bed individual.

Congrats. You understood the very reason why Canada has sin taxes.

Americans like to argue that sin taxes encourage the black market.

There you go. Again I say it...personal responsibility for the choices you make.

txgolfer, no, it is true when you are looking at Tea Party protest, they are ultra right wing, it means against on GLBT, abortion, etc so they aren't solely anti-tax as what Tea Party was for.

Reba, same applies as above, the members of Tea Party called "N" words to black congressmen and "F" word to openly gay congressman during health care protest, of course, they are Tea Party protest.
Tea Party Protesters Shout The N-Word At, Spit On Passing Legislators - Tea party racists - Jezebel

Obviously you believe the myth. Those congressmen were escorted in by Capitol police. Using the "N" word or the "F" word is considered a hate crime. If those words were actually yelled people would have been arrested for that. I have been around Tea Party meets. I will be at the one in your state this weekend (Huntsville). There is nothing racist about the group. I am sure there are a few racists in the group. There are racists in almost every group. But the group itself is not racist.

I am for "sin taxes" as long as by law they go into a specific and irrevocable pool to treat the conditions that said sin causes. The problem with a sin tax is that our government is so screwed up that those taxes will never see their intended causes. Half will be spent on red tape and the other half will be borrowed for other "needs" Show me a law that says those funds go straight to a pool with usage and costs regulated and I say Tax away.

Tea Party is more extreme and bigot than being solely anti-tax group.

Not true, you need to find a more reliable source for your informtion. Read the mission statement for the Tea Party. Another thing, we are not anti-tax, just against taxation without representation. I'm tired of the way our government handles money. It's like you spending more and more, then when the money runs out, make your employer give you a raise so that you can spend more, then you keep doing it all over again-it needs to be stopped.

Sunlight gives off UVA and UVB rays. Tanning beds give off mostly UVA.

UVA rays are the cause of wrnkles, skin cancer, and brown spots.

UVA rays are what penetrates deeply into the skin, and the skin reacts less to UVA rays.

UVA rays ---> no redness or burning. UVB rays ---> you do burn and turn red.

UVB rays are harmful but not too much, because it makes the skin react by producing Vitamin D, which we need.

Natural sunlight is better because you get an indicator that you have had enough sunlight. Sunburn! With Tanning beds you don't, for some people that is.

What are you talking about, I happen to know Gays, and proabortion folks in the party. Again you need to get a more reliable source for your information.

Exactly,
I know alot of people who tan in a controlled environment because it helps them when they go to a tropical enviromnet or to the beach.

Exactly so.

Yup, I know about Tea Party is stands for anti-tax group but for people in this group are mostly conservative on most issues.

I already have reliable source about some members in Tea Party is extreme and bigot so if it don't answer your question then use google, it has plenty of information.

I know about Tea Party is stands for anti-tax group but people in this group are mostly conservative on issues, your comment about GLBT and pro-abortion in Tea Party is minority since conservative at overall is majority.

Just like Republican Party, they are stands for limited government and individual liberty, it means government has no business to interfere with gay marriage or any women whoever want abortion but this party has turned into mostly conservative, especially anti-GLBT, sometime, it is extreme as well. GOP today is nowhere to be similar like in 1970's and I prefer to have Nixon in office over GWB.

There are extreme nutcases in every political organization. That doesn't mean the organization itself is extreme unless those extremes are in their philosophy and mission statement.
