Swine Flu Outbreak

This is one of the things I have been wondering about - backlash against certain groups - or perceived groups - of people

yep true.... it's usually because it's better than hiring babysitter. can't leave kids alone at home.....

Who said kids had to stay home alone? I know it is difficult for parents to take time off of work when a child is sick, but parents must keep in mind the child needs is to be home resting and getting better, it does no one any good sending a sick child to school.

And I know that many schools maybe not all have an attendance policy, which a child must attend a certain numbers of days they should be in school and certain numbers of days missed allowed. I always leave my kids home from school if they're running a fever, throwing up, or if it's anything related that is contagious.

Well, the concern with the spread of the flu virus is not from illegal or legal immigrants. It is from U.S. citizens who were visiting in Mexico, contracting the virus, and then returning home. For instance, the students in N.Y. who were confirmed with the swine flu that had gone on a school trip to Mexico.

Yup, I know but I was just point about ICE will take care of illegal immigrants and citizens aren't need to worried about it.

For protesters, both of swine flu and immigrant issues don't compare, it seems like lame protest to me.

Right! Also it is already in the U.S. You are more likely to contract it now, from one of your fellow Americans.

I wonder how many people are walking around with the Virus unknowingly, spreading it before they develop the symptoms.

I wonder as well. That is why it is best to take comon sense precautions whether you think you may have been exposed, or not.

Yes, it is a lame protest. People are acting out of unreasonable fear and emotion rather than common sense.

Exactly! The exact reason why they are empathizing hand washing, reducing hand shakes. etc. etc.

The N1H1 seems to be not as severe. But the whole point is that it is crippling. Due to the fact their is no vaccination as of yet for it. and that it is so new! People will become severely ill from it. Causing a meltdown. Meaning that it will basically cause a whole bunch of people calling in sick, economical effects. More people are sick, the more it will basically cripple the society. and some deaths.

Like many other posts, I see from other threads. The "common" Flu is what are antibodies are used to. This one is not Common. It is a virus that has not been exposed for a long term. Due to this one does not have a vaccination. More people will get sick from this than a "common" Flu. Even though the "common" Flu causes a lot of deaths and complications. This one has no vaccination!

That is why everyone feels so threaten by it.

We all know what the "common" Flu can do. but this one is different, and it is taken very seriously. It is not just the media... that is doing so... it is the CDC and WHO. That is taking it seriously.

Even though the Media has a tendency to exaggerate. I rely on the CDC site and the local Dept of Health site.

It is wise to rely on those sites for accurrate information. Then you know you are making a well informed decision regarding how you wish to respond.

Yes, it is sad, but it is also one of the responsibilities you take on when you make the decision to become a parent.

No, this is not new, and yes there is drug available, as far as I know the drug should be available anywhere in the United States by Sunday.

I was struck by Swine flu back in 70's. The first case of Swine flu surfaced is in 1918, strucked again in 1930's then 70's and this year.

Are you referring to Tamaflu? That is just a treatment that lessens the course of the disease. It doesn't prevent infection as does a vaccine. Tamaflu won't do anything to contain the spread. A vaccine would.

I seriously doubt that you would have died without it. It is a superficial treatment that lessens symptoms only.

it's metaphorically speaking....

it's metaphorically speaking....

Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way. Metaphors are a way to describe something. Authors use them to make their writing more interesting or entertaining.

Unlike similes that use the words “as” or “like” to make a comparison, metaphors state that something is something else.

Actually, what you used was an exaggeration, not a metaphor.
