She should have asked for clarification instead of attacking her when I don't see the word ALL in her post.

That's between both parties to correct their errors. Cheri didnt make sure she put "some" so she is partially responsible and Jillo assumed that she meant "all: so Jillo is partially responsible.

It is not a big deal..we all read each other wrong and as long as everyone takes responsibility for how they express themselves and how they read others.

That's why Jillo cant search for research articles everytime someone requests it...it is expensive. She is glad to charge people a fee if they want her to find all the research and pay the fees in obtaining them.

I competely understand that but without an actual source or evidence just some hearsay, I wouldn't believe it either.

I don't blame any of them of not wanted to pay 20 bucks just to see an article, it should have been available for free on the internet. IMO.

I'm not here to start any arguments, I just wish some of you would cool it down a bit here. unless I left my heat on high. :giggle:

In a university-setting all the articles are freely available to the staff (& students). The University subscribes to the journals.
So, if Jillio is asking money for her "searching" and obtaining the articles, I hope she donates the money to some good cause.

Because it is costing her nothing....

I have given u a source, it is up to u if you want to pay to get access to it or not.

Not all articles are free cuz it is costly to conduct a research. Very expensive. I would have to pay big bucks to conduct a research myself and get it published.

I would love to cool down. Life is not that bad, isnt it? :giggle:

Good point. I'm wondering if you could find this articles i any university/college and is it free? :giggle: (sorry I had to ask)

I dont know if Jillo obtained them from an university or from another source. One can only speculate unless they ask her. :dunno:

Sorry, I'm on on platform in the North Sea..
And, I have no access to the university library.
My wife has. I will ask her if she can find it.

Would you pay for them if they are available for free?

Obviously, there is a issue with copyright. One cannot just hand out any paper that has to be paid for.
The prices are high. Especially when all you want is browse the article.
That's why I don't like the "find it yourself and pay for it yourself" attitude... Nor "I'll find it if you pay for my time and the costs of obtaining it"... because in that case, you can do it yourself.

Ok, thanks Cloggy and Shel90.

We already explained to you previously. you forget that students pay fees which is usually $200+ per semester and plus the tuition covers it as well. And no not all universities have access to such journals. The more subscriptions they have - the costlier it is. My work (university) has a rather limited budget so I do not have access to plethora of sources like my state university. The database does link to citation but no full access (only abstract) so I'm sure that the money she asks for is to purely cover that additional access fee.

As this black guy said in THE WIRED series... "cheap motherfucker...." :laugh2:

Some lines from Cheri's posts...

since deaf people were mute during the 19 centuries ago, #339

nobody had taught those deaf to speak during the time ASL was around #354

Then tell me why were the deaf children didn't speak? why were they mute?? #356

if she wanted to put an emphasize that she didnt mean all, then it is important to put "some" in those statemetns or otherwise it would mean she is saying "all" indirectly.

I would not put "some" if I am not so sure on the numeric of deaf children that were mute, and I'm not going to put "most" either for the same reason, I sure did not said "all". When I said deaf children I was speaking generally, "those" who were mute, only those would know who they were. And Thanks Angel. ;)

I've seen you and Jillio says that deaf children were failing TC/Oral, you both don't use the term word of "some" or "most" either. So practice what you preach.

Then I accept responsibility if I didnt put "some" in some of my posts. It is all about accepting responsibility for our actions. Not a hard thing to do.

Anyways, I have always emphasized the majority by using "the majority" . So I would safetly assume that u or others knew automatically what I meant. I cant speak for Jillo so if not, then I will continue to remember to use "the majority" over and over in my future posts.

Can you tell me why the majority of people who had total communication can't write a proper sentence?

You already explained? Missed that one.
Thanks for the clarification.
So, it depends on the University.
How about, for example, the University of Ohio...
A department connected to deaf studies would certainly have access.

My wife works at a University and when she needs an article, she does a simple search and it will come up, available to read. Same with journals and magazines. Anyone teaching at the university would be expected to be up to date with current research, so they will have to have it available..

I know Shel and Jillio are all for BiBi, but I am not too sure about the other people. Are you guys trying to say that one size does not fit all or did you have something in mind?
