This post serves no purposes other than to stir stuff up in this forum and from searching and reading your past old posts that I am not quite suprised to see you post something like this.
For who? For a adult who lost their hearing at age 25? For an oral individual who has a progressive loss? For a Deaf adult who chooses to get a CI for enviromental sound awareness? For a blind individual who suddenly becomes deaf after an illness? Or for a prelingually deaf child with hearing parents who want their child to grow up with access to spoken language?
These are all different scenerios in which people get CI's.
Oh, and why is it my buisness what they do to their body??? Do you also go around like the tattoo/piercing police making sure that no one defaces their body?
I am not for or against CI either, you should have add "neutral" on the poll..
Guess you re in between as in lost and confused.
Nope. I'm a hearing parent who will be implanting my Deaf child in 16 days. Does that make me pro-implant??
I do not think that technology is good or evil. It is what people choose to do with the device that makes all the difference.
Oh, and by the way, my daughter attends a bi-bi school for the Deaf and her primary language is ASL. We are an active part of our Deaf community and I am what many would call "passably fluent" (meaning I understand and can communicate in most circumstances, but my ASL is far from beautiful or poetic!)
SO....judge away!

Your post made me smile =) , Wish you and your child all the best and hope the surgery will go smoothly..
