Summer 2008.. Ader...Weight Loss Support Group :):)

I'm trying to lose my weight but my mind still in habit with soda, I have very hard time to break my habit (same as quit) to drink soda and junk food.

That's frustrated me right now. :(

I think a weight loss support group is an excellent idea. Count me in. :)

These tips are great and that will help all of us to improve our eating habits. Lifestyle is another thing because it affects how we eat as well.

I have the tendency to eat more chickens than beef products. The problem is, I am a big carb eater. I love those starchy foods too, ha. Yeah, starchy foods isn't that healthy either.

I recently purchased a smoothie mixer and have started buying some ingredients that makes a good smoothie. It contains fruits as well which is a plus. I've only been using it once in a while but down in the road, I'd like to start using it as much as I can.

My final goal is to reach at 150 lbs. Anything less than that makes me look boney. In overall, I just want to be fit and healthy.

We need a weight GAIN support group for us bodybuilders!

Original weight 1/1/07: 160
Current weight 11/1/07: 175lbs

I need to get a body fat measurement. I'm hoping to get down to 6-7%. I estimate I'm at 8-10% today. My abs still aren't showing up.

Actually Dennis 8-10% body fat is ridiculously low you need around 20% body fat depending on body type plus women need slightly more body fat than men. But anything over 30% body fat is too much.

I think weight loss support groups like Weight Watchers are
fine if you can get interpeters to help you understand what you
need to know about losing weight and all.
I had to have one when i went for diabetic/nutrition classes
to learn how to change my diet and all...not that im a diabetic,
i was just pre-diabetic which could result into a full blown
diabetes if i didnt completely overhaul my diet. I did just that
cuz i didnt want to develop diabetes, and as a result i lost 26 lbs!
My doctor was so proud of me and told me that my blood sugar
is back to normal. Of course, i will always have to watch what i
eat for the rest of my life...i always will eat healthy, and of course,
i will occassionaly have a little bit of sinful sweet stuff, lol! like a small
bowl of yogurt ice cream or a piece of vanilla cake once in awhile,
not everyday, of course...as the dietitian says.

Wow....What a wonderful idea for all AD'ers who are interested in losing weight..I can remember when i weighed 205 lbs.. I went on the crash diet.. i ended up in the hospital ...so doctor told me not ever to be on the crash diet... can go on diet losing at least 2-3 lbs a week... so i did... i cut down fatty foods... went down to 135 lbs.. then i got married.... i gained some weights... i weighed 169 lbs when my husband passed away....
5 ,months later... i had bad car accident and was bed ridden for about 5 months.. my weight went down to 90 lbs... it took me about two years to gain back to 130....now my room mate passed away a week ago.. i already lost 15 lbs.. now i weigh 115 lbs....i am trying to gain some weight so i would feel better.. but with the radiation treatments... ughhh..... lost some appetites... three more weeks before treatments are over... i prolly will gain .. i hope...

best luck to every one....

balanced...but too much cheese. I love cheese. Should I cut cheese out of my diet?

................

Ohhh noooo, you should not cut cheese out of your diet.

Mainly important to read the cheese's label to see how many soduim and fat they have. high soduim and fat is no good for your diet. If you buy fresh cheese then you can check how many % fat in cheese.

If you love cheese with high soduim and fat then limit it.

I am cheese lover. I eat a lot of low fat and soduim or salt cheese and also cottage cheese as well with high protein.

Eat high protein with low fat lead you to lose weight easy. (lean white and red meats, fishes with salads).

No, unless you feel your eating too much. Cheese is actually a protein you use it in salads, eggs (another protein food) even to just snack on. Since, everyone is different with the intake of food we choose.
I am more of a protein eater vs carbs. I do like carbs such as breadsticks are soo good and lasagna yum!
I like that tip Dixie, eating ice cubes will try that.
Another tip drink ice water with slice of lemon it makes water more tasty.

It's important to eat carbs but it should be limited. You can eat carbs with protein, vitamins or just carbs, or carbs with vitamins until 2.00 pm then after 2.00 pm, no more carbs but full protein and vitamins especially vitamin C.

Yes, ice water or normal water with sliced lemon are very common in Germany. It's very good.

I lost 26 lbs!...sooo proud of myself!! so is my
doctor!! lol!
I need to lose about 10 or 15lbs she says but i think
i will make it my goal of 20 lbs!..
I do feel a whole lot better and my blood sugar is
sooo much better, even my cholesteral is down alot
too!
;)

Congrulation  Keep it update... :thumb:

Phillip's suggestion is great... I would join if I am obese.

P.S. A suggestion when exercising a calorie burner counter thingie does wonders in knowing if you are exercising enough. Also remember to write down how many calories you are eating daily.

Yes, without exercising, you can't lose weight. You need exercising and eat right foods and drink plenty of liquid (water or herbal teas) then it will helps to lose weight.

I visited health conference voluntarily at 5 weeks spa resort last year. It's for obese people how to take care of their health etc. They said that it's too stress for the people to count out how many calories they eat a day. Easy to count out fat a day than calories... Interesting...

If you want to lose weight then count up to 60 gram fat a day. I prefer to count up to 60 gram fat a day because it's easy than count out how many calories I eat a day.

My doctor told me that each slice of cheese has 100 calories. So really its not that healthful to eat alot of cheese. Dang for me too as I am a cheeselover as well.

Here is a healthy tip to get your cheese fix. Broccoli and cheese bakes. You don't eat quite as much cheese and broccoli is healthy. Although I hate broccoli.

I am surprised that your doctor told you that a slice of cheese has 100 calories and not healthy which I respectfully disagree to because there're types of cheeses have different calories and fat grams.

The cheese is healthy but watch out how many % fat and soduim they have. You has to limit with it.

Check those link.

The number of calories in different cheese is listed in the table below and shows cheese calories per 100 grams (3.5 oz). It is difficult to accurately determine the calorie content per portion as size differs between individuals and products, therefore the values are displayed for comparison purposes.

Cheese Calories in cheese how many calories in various types cheeses

I choose to eat low fat with low soduim cheese - cottage cheese and hard cheese are very low fat and high protein. I eat them a lot.

If you want to bake the cheese with something but you should make sure that they have low fat in cheese. It's important.

Need more protein.

I visit to Fitness Studio daily with my son. Some bodybuilders are there... They were being taught to eat protein a lot to gain the muscles.

will help too, hehe!)

sure i'll join, i am horribly obese and want to lose weight badly.

Name: darkangel8603

Final Goal:130-150

1month Goal (for 12/5): 5lbs

What type of diet: more veggies and fruits as well some meats and less breads and way less cheese. I am nut over cheese or dairy products but the sucky thing is i am lactose intolerant so I need to stop eating those stuff to make myself feel better. Also walking everyday and don't give in to night eating cravings.

So far I have been trying to be more active outside the 8 hours on my feet at work. I am going to try to walk for 45 mins after work and walk for an hour to an hour and a half on weekends. It may not be all in one lump sum but I am getting there. I think having to get out and work the dogs is also helping. I am leveling out emotionally and Im building up stamina at the same time. If you have a pet I very much encourage you to take them for a walk with you every day. It will really benefit you both in the long run.

With me on Monday I am going to start a new routine. I get off work at 2:00pm then I go get my DD, then I can come back home change into some regular clothes then go for a few rounds around the house for 45 mins while my DD plays on her playset. This will do us both some major good.

I have been cutting back on calories but I dont want to cut back so much that my glucose levels bottom out causing me more problems than I need at the moment.

This may be an opportune time for use to share tips on how to get through the holidays whilst dieting with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas slightly beyond that.

OK for those of you attempting the Subway diet - beware Subway sandwhiches can make ya fat!

I have been doing some experimenting with some low cal combinations that are still quite flavorful, like today for lunch me and my DD went to Subway and I ordered a 6 inch subway Club Sandwhich on wheat bread with swiss cheese, lettuce and tomatoes for condiments and ONE LINE of mayonnaise, I looked on the napkin and it happened to have the club sandwhich on there - the overall caloric value was just under 400 calories. It filled me up and still had flavor but without the added fat and calories.

I have been told that all the breads except for wheat and white bread are hand rolled so the caloric value of them will vary and you have to go light on the sauces.

Unfortunately there are still many people (including one in my own family) that think that a footlong Italian BMT in Parmesean Bread loaded with extra cheese and think that because it has lettuce on it, the extra fat and calories won't go to their hips. Unfortunately subway doesn't have a magic powder to sprinkle on the sandwhiches to make them completely fat and calorie free :giggle: dont even mention the potato chips and soft drink that have around 400 calories combined.

so for a healthy subway sandwhich you can only have a 6 inch sandwhich on wheat or white bread, no extra cheese and only ONE LINE of any sauce you choose. And stay away from fatty meats like pepperoni, salami and ham and go for leaner meats like turkey and roast beef. No chips and a diet coke and your meal will be filling and you wont go overboard. :)

Good tip, Dixie.
Best of luck on losing weight. I have no doubt you'll do it. :)

I always order 6 inch with low cal ingredients with absolutely no cheese or dressings. It, indeed, is filling.

I, too, am trying to lose weight. Fortunately I'm in the warm season so I should be losing weights somewhat easily than my Northern hemisphere counterpart. :fingersx:

People'll save heaps if they eat more healthy food and less takeout, believe it or not. It helps if you fill up your kitchen with fruits and vegetables and no to less junkfood. Popcorn's ok if you eat it plain.

Good luck to all of you!

sorry to go off topic here, but Miss-Delectable, what fast food are in Australia like do they have mcdonald? wendy? taco bell? kfc? I am actually curious lol.
